The 2026 Michael Ollis Memorial Scholarships

Earlier this year, former Auburndale Soccer player Michael Ollis was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic acts in 2013 saving the life of a wounded soldier as he was approached by a su***de bomber. This heroic act was unfortunately Michael’s final act of bravery and courage.

The Petruccelli family, as long-time patrons and benefactors of Auburndale Soccer, are honoring Michael’s achievement in receiving the highest military award for valor in the United States by establishing the 2026 Michael Ollis Memorial Scholarships.Recipients of the scholarship will include one full-time boys and one full-time girls travel soccer player at Auburndale who meet outstanding criteria, including achievement, commitment, and leadership to the team and club, and alignment with the principles and values that guided Michael Ollis’ service to the country. Each recipient will be awarded a full scholarship for tuition for the 2026-27 season and be presented a kit with Michael Ollis’ number 88.

Each Auburndale trainer nominated one player for their teamsthat best met the criteria noted above. Winners will be announced at the club’s Spring Festival tomorrow, June 20, 2026.
