Thrown to the Wolves in Vimeo Staff Picks 05/19/2021

As we seem to be rounding a significant corner in our collective return to respective normalcy, we’re pleased to announce that “Thrown to the Wolves”, the short doc following first responder Renard “Storm” Haynes through the challenges, adaptations, highs and lows of rendering aid during a pandemic directed by The Hudson Dusters premieres in full today as a Vimeo Staff Pick (link in bio). In the grand scheme of things, the short is a relatively small gesture but one of deep appreciation to a very broad coalition of front line workers of all stripes across all geography and communities. We couldn’t have gotten through this without their dedication and sacrifice and this film is but a single chapter in one story of many who carried the light through such a dark time. And big thanks to everyone involved in the making of this project.

Award-winning director Clayton Vila signs with Greenpoint Pictures | shots 09/29/2020

Growing up far from any real skiable mountains, but with a real love for it born from winter trips out west, we made due the rest of the year with trading around increasingly worn out VHS copies of (now Classic) Warren Miller films. A lot in the ski world has changed in 30+ years since then but it’s always been a place for unique and fascinating characters and stories. Among those unique characters pushing that change and documenting those bizarre and intriguing stories all along the way is also the newest addition to the Greenpoint fam, professional skier turned acclaimed director . We couldn’t be more stoked to welcome Clayton to the fold and help further his already impressive progression from X-games medaling and featuring in a ton of dope ski videos to his seamless transition to calling action and cut on the other side of the camera. Ask our own gold medal EP . “We love that Clayton is a professional athlete. To be at that level there's an innate drive and passion that keeps you motivated. That's translated seamlessly with Clayton's more recent path in film making. We feel it in his work. There's an emotion, a storytelling technique that feels unique and carries its own voice. We're excited our worlds collided for the next chapter of his career and look forward to riding alongside his successes. As one of his films poignantly states, ‘some want to be defined by their commitment.’ We're ready to bring attention to that.” True dat. And if we happen to, at some point in the snowy, near future, hike a back bowl to poach some freshies with Clayton as a guide, we’re cool with that too. 🤙🏼
