The SEC and Big Ten have created a one-way door for athletes: attempt to go pro, and you may never be allowed to return—even if you never play a professional game and still have eligibility.

Coaches move freely between college and professional sports. Why should athletes alone be permanently punished for taking the same chance?

College sports may need boundaries between collegiate and professional competition. But those rules should be prospective, proportionate and developed with athletes—not imposed after athletes have already made life-changing decisions.

Athletes deserve notice. Athletes deserve a voice. And athletes deserve rules that protect competitive integrity without exercising more control over their lives than necessary.

It’s a tale as old as time. We’ve heard it from athletes of all levels. The beauty of sport isn’t just about the competition - it’s about the connection and community that comes with it. It’s about being able to access the sport that you love. It’s why we do this work - to expand access so that everyone has the chance to experience the benefit of sport.

We are proud to announce that Carl Nassib will be honored at this year’s Athlete Ally Action Awards for his leadership, courage, and continued commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion and community impact. In 2021, Carl made history as the first openly gay active NFL player, using his platform to help challenge barriers and create greater visibility and belonging for LGBTQ+ people in sports. He has carried that commitment beyond the football field, including through his work as the founder of Rayze App, a platform connecting nonprofits, donors, and volunteers to make giving back more accessible. From breaking barriers in professional sports to building new ways for people to engage with causes they care about, Carl has consistently demonstrated the power of authenticity, visibility, and action. His leadership continues to inspire a more inclusive world both in sports and in the broader community. More information about the Awards, including ticket and sponsorship details are at the link in our bio!
