The Floss

The Floss Bonnie developed her method and platform The Floss to educate people on how to change their fascia.

I have been saying for years - our Longevity lives in our fascia!

Here is another reason to move, Floss and vary our movements to take care of our fascia.

I also now want to know if eating more sugar creates more AGEs’ welding cross fibers - my guess is yes. Low sugar diet always makes my tissue feel fab.

Let’s stop referencing our bodies as machines. It gives our power away. And no, what is illustrated in a classical anatomy textbook is just a reference point and was designed to be easy on the eye - not the be all !(also PS did you know that Grey’s Anatomy was illustrated by another human ! The illustrator was Henry Vandyke Carter was a trained anatomist who did the dissections alongside Henry Gray and produced all 363 original drawings for the 1858 first edition. Many people argue those drawings are why the book became a classic.)

anyway, I think that’s why I love fascia so much as as our primary way to reference the body. Your fascial signature is different than mine. The fascia references our life story and the mundane everyday movements that we do, and acute moments along our path!

You are magic. I am magic. And if you’re reading this, that includes you too.

Your body is a mysterious, brilliant, deeply intelligent being.
Yes, we share the same blueprint. You have a heart, I have a heart. You have a brain, I have a brain. We’re both (or ONE!!) blessed with two kidneys. But your kidneys won’t look like mine. Your heart won’t look like mine. Each of us carries a unique anatomical signature.

When we treat the body like a machine that should look a certain way, that someone else can fix, that the data defines, we lose sight of that magic: your own majesty, sovereignty, and autonomy.

This is where fascia gets interesting. It’s the fabric of organisation, the material that holds your one-of-a-kind shape together.

Your body isn’t a machine to be fixed. It’s a living masterpiece to get curious about.
What’s one thing your body has done lately that amazed you?

Fascia is electric. Literally! We talk about Prana, Qi, life force energy — but did you know the current flowing through the fascia, has been measured?

Fascia isn’t just connective tissue holding you together. It’s a living, conductive matrix that transduces electricity throughout your entire body — carrying light particles (protons and photons) and even sound, with researchers measuring up to 87 amplitudes of sound traveling through the facial network. Can you say SOUND BATH — facia is the medium which makes a sound bath groovy.

The wild part is that fascia is piezoelectric — meaning it generates its own electricity. Every time you move, stretch, breathe, or get touched, your fascia creates a charge. Mechanical pressure ➡️ electric signal. Your body is literally sparking with life force every second.

Rather than 🌀 mysticism 🌀 this is physics living inside your tissue. So when we talk about energy work, breathwork, somatic release, we’re not speaking metaphorically. We’re talking about a real, measurable current running through the fabric that holds you together.

Sometimes I sing-teach, it hits the right hemi of your brain straight up.

Are your adductors hyper-tense or is the fascia there is too dense? Could be disrupting the tensional balance of your pelvic (DIAPHRAGM!) floor.

Try this adductor Fascia Floss™️ to balance out your tissue, support your pelvic floor, up the circulation there and increase capacity for heightened sensation ♠️♠️♠️ yes babe. Into that for you. Hypermobile safe! Hard to go too far if you stick to this framework. Skip a full lateral linge or straddle split (eeek!).

Join us for a full-body Fascia Flossing™

A practice for freer movement and fluid flow / exploring the connection between fascia, circulation, and fluid retention

In this 60-minute live workshop, Bon will guide you through a continuous upper- and lower-body Fascia Flossing practice.

You’ll work through the hamstrings, hips, legs, chest, shoulders, and upper back while learning how these areas relate to tissue mobility, circulation, and fluid movement.

SEPTEMBER…

The weather is still warm, and will be for a few weeks yet — but there’s something in the air. The beginning of September marks a quiet turning point: the last golden stretch of summer, and the start of harvest season.

Before the pace of autumn picks up, this is our moment to pause. To sit back in these final warm days and really digest everything the first half of the year has grown — the ideas we planted, the effort we poured in, the moments we almost missed while we were busy living them. There’s so much to be proud of, and so much worth savoring before we move on.

As we prepare for the autumn equinox at the end of the month, our bodies will feel the shift too. We’re moving from active Yang energy into introspective Yin energy — a softer, slower rhythm settling in. Let this season be less about winding down and more about gathering in: reaping what you’ve sown this year, and giving yourself permission to rest in the richness of it.

Take care of your mental self as tenderly as you do your physical self — you’ve earned a little harvest of your own.

Happy Fall Flossing 🍂

Your neck is asking for support, and in some ways, we could say it is more delicate than other more grand areas of the bod - the fibers are concentrated here but there is less volume to do the job it needs to do. Your body wants it stable — so when you crank it into a deep stretch, your nervous system reads that as a an alert and signals the fascia to re-stabilize the area that you just stretched out. 30 seconds of relief, then you’re stuck again. Micro movements are great but big ranges, and long holds, we might consider stepping back from for a minute (try it, it might work for you!).
The fix isn’t more stretching. It’s changing the tissue that’s actually pulling on your neck in the first place.
That means working:
- Upper traps — massive compared to your tiny neck fibers, and they’re pulling the strings up top
- Wing space + levator scap — the direct link between shoulder blade and cervical spine
- Hamstrings — yes really. Same fascial line, tension travels all the way up
Less range. More tissue health. That’s the move.

Save this for your next stiff neck day or work this all the time to prevent!

I was always one of the “good girls” stretching on the side of the studio, constantly stretching my hamstrings, every day.

But despite all that stretching, my hamstrings actually felt cold to me. Unconscious. Like I didn’t truly have sensation or connection there.

What I understand now is that I was overstretching. I was creating microtears in the tissue over and over again. So during repair, the body would lay down stronger, denser collagen fibers to heal the tiny tears.
And over time, the tissue became harder and denser — almost scar-tissue-like.

So even though my thighs looked “fit” and felt rock solid… the tissue quality actually was chuck full of densified fascia, fibrotic fascia. (Ps how amazing that my body responded so well to my environmental and habitual inputs! Our fascia is highly adaptive!)

What changed everything for me wasn’t forcing the tissue from the outside in. I used to use a rolling pin and a pbc pipe before rollers came out! It was remodeling the fascia from the inside out.

Using engagement and elongation together, the way we do in Fascia Flossing. That’s when things started changing. The tissue changed quickly.

I gained sensation back. I gained interoception. My brain-to-leg motor-control-connection improved. The tissue became softer, it had more give.. More hydrated. More responsive.

And that became way more valuable to me than being able to force myself into extreme ranges.

It actually took longer to retrain my habits than it did to change the tissue, because I had to learn that living at the absolute end range of motion was not helping me heal.

And whether you’re hypermobile or not, this is important: A lot of mobility at a joint is not always a true marker of healthy tissue. Often it’s not.

Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is pull back from the very edge of your range. And I know you might not want to hear it, but I will explain why it feels so good in the moment and then you feel roughed up the next day soon!

Maybe worth trying something different if you have chronic lower back pain. While pulling your knees to your chest or forward folding provide temporary relief, your lower back is meant to be stable, and generating more instability will send a signal to your nervous system and fibroblasts to make it tighten up more. Small amounts of folding are ok - and even better micro-movements and Fascia Flossing™️ can provide more long term change. Dynamically changing the hamstring fascia with Fascia Flossing can reset the tilt of the pelvis, reducing compression at the lumbar while still maintaining architectural integrity. Then add in your low abdominal stability work!

That’s the recipe that worked for me when I slipped a disk a long time ago.

Two new low back focused videos are dropping in THE FLOSS member library soon. Give a new strategy a try!

I get the forward bends are yummy and tempting - just see what happens when you allow your bod to be stable for a bit. It’s not wrong, you ought just need to try something else for a bit!
