It would be a three part series called Mind-Body-heart and there would definitely be preschool and toddler confessionals!

Yogi Beans is an educational, energetic, and transformative yoga–for–kids program. Our age-specific curricula are designed to introduce kids to the foundations of yoga and translate yoga philosophy into a language they can understand and internalize for use throughout all aspects of their lives. The body-mind-heart tools of yoga and mindfulness are inherently noncompetitive and highly personal. Ou

When you change the way you breathe, you change how you feel. It’s one of the first things we teach at Yogi Beans, and after 20 years it still holds true. Try Equal Breathing with your child today and notice what shifts.

I learned this the hard way in my early years of teaching.
It took me a while to stop apologizing for the noise and the movement and the chaos. The moment I shifted my focus to the kids instead of the adults watching, everything changed.

This is the question I get asked A LOT as a kids’ yoga teacher.
Challenging behavior in class is part of the gig. It happens to all of us. But there are a few things that have helped me over 20 years of teaching that I keep coming back to.
Come from a place of compassion first. The child acting out in your yoga class is most likely acting out everywhere else too. Keep this close: there are no difficult children, only children in difficult situations which results in difficult behavior!
Speak in the affirmative. Instead of stop, no, don’t, try telling them what you DO want. The mat stays on the floor. At the end of class you’ll get time to explore the props. It’s a small shift that makes a big difference.
Show them a different version of themselves. Class clown? Make them the leader. Have them demo the sun salutations. Kids acting out are usually just looking for attention. Give them the positive kind.
No magic formula works for every child. It’s always a little trial and error. But these three have never let me down.

This one’s sneaky in the best way. 👂✨😉
Ear massage is one of the first tools I reach for when kids are wired and need to focus. The ear has a ton of vagus nerve connections, and the conchal bowl is the sweet spot. Gentle pressure there sends a signal to the nervous system to shift out of fight or flight. 🧠💜
It calms them down, gives them a great listening cue, and quietly asks them to tune inward to feel the sensation. Bonus: they have to get quiet to do it. 🤫 💜
Try it before your next class.
Anyone else wear their sunglasses indoors for this exact reason? 😜🙃😎
