Summer Shenanigans went out the only way it could: with maximum chaos. 🥫🌋🤪

For our grand finale, teams battled through a round robin featuring all three of this summer’s formats — Ye Ol’ Can Game, Lava Party and Crazy Eights — before moving into a single-elimination bracket.

And when it came down to our final two teams? We threw the rulebook out the window and put ALL THREE formats in play at once. True shenanigans. 🧨

We started the Spring Singles League back in February with 88 competitors, and after months of matches, we’re down to the final four in both the Main and Consolation brackets!

Join us at Royal Palms on Friday, September 11 as we close out the season and crown our Spring 2026 champions.

Our inaugural TOO HOT TO TOUCH Summer Doubles Tournament is in the books! ☀️

We doubled down on new formats for this all new NYSA tournament. We introduced the International Shuffleboard Association “No-Touch Zone Rule”, bringing a fresh way to play. With more discs on the board, there were more chances for tricky splits, rolls, and those unexpected scores that can be frustrating if they happen to you, but exciting if they work in your favor. We also tried out a double-elimination bracket, so one bad match didn’t mean you were out of championship contention.

The best things come in pairs: peanut butter and jelly. Socks (hopefully). Tangs and biscuits. So playing this new format with a friend was the only way to spend a Sunday. Speaking of iconic duos... after many, MANY games, our champions battled back from the second-chance bracket to take the whole thing: Congrats Carlie & Doug!🏆

Proof that a second chance in double-elimination is just a running start. Thanks to everyone who came out to play with us. Until next time — stay cool!

Chicago is home to deep-dish, the Bean, and, as any local historian (or unfortunate boat passenger) will tell you, the place where Dave Matthews’ name will never be forgotten.

And now, we can definitively say: it’s also the city where New York shuffleboarders thrive, after taking their 3rd tournament in 5 years at the annual Chicago National Shuffleboard Tournament earlier this month.

Pouring rain. Thunderstorms. And still, at least 30 Brooklyn-based NYSA members, plus dozens more from across the country, showed up to The Royal Palms Chicago🌴, ready to play against some of the best in the country. Conditions were so rough that two players made the overnight drive from New York to Illinois after their flights were canceled, just to be on the courts in time to throw down.

In the end, it was NYSA members Devin Concannon and Drew Appelbaum who took the title. They outwitted, outlasted, and outplayed all other teams to win their first-ever national title, and “Dancing on My Own” could not have played loud enough. And a big hat tip to NYSA members who finished in top spots in the Consolation Bracket: George Brown, who took 2nd Place with partner Matt Nakano and Justin Latta with a 4th Place finish with partner Matthew Miller.

Huge thanks to the Illinois Shuffleboard - ILSA team for hosting — they are truly best-in-class. We can’t wait to see you in 2027 to defend the title.

This year’s National Shuffleboard Tournaments in Lakeside, Ohio, wrapped a few weeks ago, and NYSA showed up in a big way.

Some context for the uninitiated: generations of Midwesterners have flocked to this idyllic oasis on the shores of Lake Erie every summer to take in all the wholesomeness the universe has to offer. It’s the kind of place you read about and think “there’s no way this actually exists,” then suddenly you’re driving in from Cleveland, walking past a very friendly gatekeeper, and stepping into a Pleasantville-esque village straight out of a fairy tale, full of all kinds of recreational activities. Many of you have been to a national tournament where the format is singular in nature: a doubles tournament, or a singles tournament. Here in Lakeside, the event spans an entire week, with several tournaments to take part in. Wildfire smoke rolling in from Canada forced the cancellation of the last couple days this year, but. NYSA still made it count with our biggest turnout yet.

Save the date: On August 1, NYSA is going back to Jones Beach.

If you thought New York shuffleboard was just an indoor game, you clearly have never dropped a along the shore of the Atlantic. Located just steps from the water, you’ll find several outdoor courts to play the game we love, the way our shuffleboard gods always intended.

Whether you’re at the top of the NYSA leaderboard or trying shuffleboard for the first time, everyone is welcome.

If you need a break from the courts, there’s plenty to do at Jones Beach, like walking the boardwalk, relaxing on the sand, playing other games, and more. This is a family affair—feel free to bring your tiny shufflers, your nana, or anyone else who could enjoy a lovely beach day with fellow shuffleboard enthusiasts.

Wondering how to get there? We’ll help facilitate LIRR pickups and carpools, as needed!
