Our senior students are each conducting research into a high-level kata, and over the next few months will be presenting their insights and findings to our dojo. So far Sempai Michael has started us on seipai and Sempai Steve on sanseiru. These sessions have already been very instructive and inspiring, and we're looking forward to more!

Thanks so much to Shihan Russell and Senpai Alan for joining us to run a great seminar on bo staff techniques! Very interesting material and a huge amount of fun. Looking forward to the next one! And thanks to Senpai Lori for her well-timed drop-in!
We're canceling class for tonight - the air quality is up to dangerous levels, so sanchin would be counterproductive.
For the month of June, Monday classes will be in room 4D and Thursday classes in room 4A. See you there!

We are so proud to announce our most recent nidan and nikkyu - Steve Palmer and Kristen Griggs. They both successfully tested on Friday, showing great determination and spirit for months of training and a vigorous 3 hour test!
Kristen and Steve worked together as a team for over a year training as uke for one another - sharpening techniques, bunkai, renzoku, and kumite.
Special thanks to Shihan Russell Bianca for joining the grading board.
There will be no classes on Memorial Day, Monday May 25! Do some kata while you are waiting for the bbq to cook.

We had a wonderful weekend training at the GKC Global Gasshuku here in NYC this past weekend! We had the opportunity to train with martial artists from around the world and especially Sensei Michelle and Sensei Paul. Special thanks to Sensei Ben from Edge Martial Arts for organizing with us. An amazing budo experience overall - with some extra time together thanks to the blizzard!
Blizzard workout tonight at 5pm - meet at the arch on the Washington Sq Park north side. All are welcome (families, kids, etc.). We will focus on Goju but will have plenty of variety to be inclusive to any who come.

We're canceling class tonight due to storm-related safety concerns! Everyone should work out on your own - take a look at Sensei Paul's guide on pushups and find some interesting ones to do on your own - three sets of ten! Try to do three iterations of sanchin and three of gekisai dai ichi as well. Stay warm!
