This beautiful time of the year has a special light and color, it is the end of the summer and the beginning of the autumn, and tomorrow, September 23rd, the Sun will rise exactly above the equator and the hours of light will be equal to the hours of dark, worldwide. This event is the Autumn Equinox on the northern hemisphere and the Spring equinox on the southern hemisphere.
A special time for changes and new beginings. A time to work on our inner balance, even if around us the events present themselves as chaotic and startling. May we tune with the natural balance of these days to find calmness and healing.
Yoga and mindfulness movement can be a great tool to work with our inner balance. Come try a session with me tomorrow evening at my home studio, or ask for a private session. All levels are welcome! ☀️🍃🍂

Freestyle Yoga & Movement practice. (português nos comentários).
How often do you move yourself freely, without any intention in mind other than just to explore and feel yourself? Or just because you want to find joy and pleasure in movement?
It is so liberator to do a movement practice that has no "rights" or "wrongs", no stipulated time to feel its benefits, no authority over you bossing you around, but rather, just you, you and your on sensations, you and your own will.

✓shoulder and shoulder blade work
✓ upside down perspective prepares the practitioner physically and emotionally for the full inversion of the body. 8 years ago, my second spring in NYC. 🌸🌸🌸

On Salamba Sirsasana (Head Stand) — continuation of previous posts. In order to start learning Sirsasana, it is important to have a strong foundation. The standing poses, (a few of them presented above), help us build strength, flexibility and endurance to be able to safely support our body weight in an upside down position.

On Salamba Sirsasana (Head Stand) — continuation on previeus post.
In orther to practice Head Stand it is essential to have a good experience and understanding of the standing poses. In other words, we learn to stand balanced on our feet before we learn to stand balanced on our heads. For that reason, never underestimate the practice of Tadasana (Montain pose), also known as Samasthiti (Upright Steadiness). In Tadasana we work from the base (feet) up to the crown of the head. We learn to stand tall and stable like a montain. We learn to focus on each part of the body and also have a global observance over the whole body.
