2026 TYR Senior Metropolitan Summer Championships Recap - Wolverines Splash in with 20 National Qualifying Times !

What an incredible weekend at the 2026 TYR Senior Metropolitan Summer Championships! Every swimmer who represented Westchester Aquatic Club contributed to one of our strongest championship performances in recent years. From personal-best swims and finals appearances to team scoring performances and national-level qualifying standards, our athletes demonstrated the dedication, perseverance, and competitive spirit that define the Wolverines.

Our women's team finished 4th overall, and together we earned an outstanding 5th-place combined finish with 568 team points. Leading the way was Julia Bak, who captured the Women's Senior Metropolitan High Point Championship, while numerous teammates earned individual high-point honors, reached championship finals, and achieved lifetime best performances.

One of the most exciting accomplishments of the weekend was the number of new championship qualifying standards earned. Congratulations to Julia Bak, Serene Jourdy, Sunny Kang, Alex Horney, and Claire Reed for achieving new national-level qualifying times. These achievements are a direct reflection of the countless hours of hard work, consistency, and commitment they have invested throughout the season.

Perhaps most impressive was the collective effort of our team. The improvement report showed more than 30 lifetime personal-best performances, with swimmers competing fearlessly, supporting one another, and racing for something bigger than themselves. Whether you scored points, reached a championship final, earned a personal best, achieved a new qualifying standard, or simply stepped onto the blocks and gave your best effort, every swim contributed to the success of our team.

Thank you to our athletes for your dedication, our coaching staff for your leadership, and our volunteers for making performing our work assignments, and our families for your unwavering support throughout the season.

Below is a recap of our team accomplishments and each swimmer's individual performances.

Congratulations, Wolverines!

Congratulations to Sunny Kang on her Commitment to Brown University!

For the past 11 years, Sunny has been a Wolverine, and during that time we have watched her grow not only into an exceptional athlete, but into an incredible young woman. Nothing about this accomplishment happened overnight. Every early morning, every yard, every set, every hard practice, and every quiet choice added up over time.

Sunny has earned this next chapter through unwavering commitment, resilience, humility, and the kind of work ethic that does not always ask for attention, but consistently shows in the moments that matter most. Her journey is a reminder that long-term dedication, trust in the process, and perseverance truly pay off.

We are beyond proud of you, Sunny, and so grateful to have been a part of your journey for the last 11 years. We cannot wait to watch you continue your academic and athletic career at Brown University and thrive at the next level.

The best is still ahead.

Happy Thanksgiving !

I want to take a moment to appreciate not just the holiday, but the incredible swim-team culture we’ve built together. Our team is defined by dedication, support, and the way we push each other to be better β€” whether it’s powering through challenging practices, cheering from the pool deck, or celebrating new personal bests.

I am truly grateful for the opportunity to coach you. Each of you brings something unique to this team, and I’m also grateful for the blessings your families bringβ€”their support, encouragement, and commitment that help make everything we do possible.

As we head into the holiday, I hope you enjoy a well-deserved break filled with rest, great food, and quality time with your family. Take this time to slow down, celebrate the simple pleasures of the holiday, and appreciate the moments that matter most.

Wishing you and your families a warm, joyful Thanksgiving Day !
