Ronald El Toro Weaver (1974-)

Ronald “Cobra” Weaver is a former professional boxer from New Orleans, Louisiana, whose career spanned 15 years and 50 professional fights. Fighting from 1994 through 2009, Weaver compiled a record of 29-19-2 with 22 knockouts, establishing himself as one of the notable New Orleans fighters of his era.

Weaver made his professional debut in 1994 at UNO Lakefront Arena and quickly developed a reputation as a dangerous puncher. By 1998, he had reached the world stage, challenging former WBO champion Bronco McKart for the IBA junior-middleweight championship, going the full 12-round distance. A year later, he faced former IBF world champion Yori Boy Campas, entering the bout with an impressive 23-4 record and 18 knockouts.

Throughout his career, Weaver fought champions, contenders and top prospects across several weight divisions. One of his signature victories came in 2005 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, when he upset undefeated contender Randy Griffin by unanimous decision, handing Griffin his first professional loss.

Weaver competed on some of boxing’s biggest stages, including the Vitali Klitschko–Corrie Sanders heavyweight championship card and the Arturo Gatti–Floyd Mayweather Jr. card in Atlantic City.

Ronald “Cobra” Weaver represents a generation of fighters who earned their reputation by fighting anyone, anywhere—carrying New Orleans boxing with him from the local circuit to some of the biggest stages in the sport.
