Our first week back to school at SCOD is complete!
It was a beautiful week of learning and reuniting with dance friends.
We had wonderful and challenging open classes taught by Denise Oustalet, NOBT’s resident choreographer Oliver Halkowich, and artistic director of NOBT and co-founder of SCOD Gregory Schramel.

Meet the teachers for Schramel Conservatory of Dance’s 2026-2027 school year!
All of our instructors are current or past professional dancers, so they are fully equipped to lead students to success using their extensive knowledge of this art form.

Lisa is the Executive Director of NOBT. This year she will be teaching Ballet II, Ballet IV, and Ballet V/VI Intermediate/Advanced!
Below is her bio!
Lisa is a Los Angeles native, where she trained primarily under Ms. June Chin. A graduate of Duke University with a BS in Biology, she continued her studies of ballet under faculty Tyler Walters, Julie Janus, Walters, and M’Liss Dorrance, and was a member of the Duke Ballet Repertory and Duke Jazz Repertory Ensembles. After graduation, she returned to California where she taught ballet, tap, and jazz and became business manager for the Peninsula School of Performing Arts in Palos Verdes, California. She continued her professional career by performing as a professional tap dancer with Le Jazz Hot and as a principal ballet dancer with Southern California Dance Theatre, performing lead roles in The Nutcracker, La Boutique Fantasque, and Les Sylphides. Since moving to New Orleans in 2015, she has performed with New Orleans Ballet Theatre regularly and continued her love of teaching at Schramel Conservatory of Dance. Lisa is a certified teacher of the American Ballet Theatre curriculum. In 2017, she took on the role of Administrative Director of New Orleans Ballet Theatre and has helped the company emerge further as a leading arts organization while also managing the school. In 2021, she assumed the role of Executive Director for New Orleans Ballet Theatre.

It’s another busy summer at SCOD! Open adult classes will continue through the summer, picking up again in June—Dates and times will be announced soon. We will also host our Adult Summer Intensive and Mini Dance Camp at the end of July. Escape the heat by visiting our studios and keeping cool while doing something cool!
Adult Summer Intensive:

If you’re an adult looking to move and groove and explore multiple styles of dance, check out the Adult Summer Intensive! Classes will take place in the evening, Monday through Friday for two weeks. Week One will be geared towards a beginner/intermediate level, and Week 2 towards an intermediate/advanced level.
