Intensives provide us with a rare opportunity to train as if it’s our sole focus in life. We’re forced to simplify our schedules and dedicate ourselves to the practice. We train. We eat. We rest. We train again. I’m so grateful that these people chose to spend their whole weekends with me doing drunken style kung fu and throwing literally thousands of kicks. And now, back to our regular weekly training schedule. 😅
🍶 Last chance to register for the Drunken Immortal intensive! We start Friday and will learn the form containing over 160 kicks in 4 sessions throughout the weekend. Link in bio
Most double weapons require control or strength but straight swords are all flow and it feels so good!

This year’s Summer Intensive Weekend will feature the leader of the 8 Drunken Immortals, Iron Crutch Li, who was powerful even though he required a crutch to walk.
In the 8 Drunken Immortal fighting system, Iron Crutch Li’s form uses mostly kicks, but specifically thrown from moving the hips and body as if we’re flinging our legs around. This style of kicking teaches us to use the momentum of our bodies and flow to put power into our kicks, rather than isolated muscular strength.
In the 4 sessions of this Summer intensive, we’ll learn the Iron Crutch Li form which consists of 165 kicks. Each session will also include applications of certain movements from the form as well as Grandmaster Sin The’s famous stretching set. We’ll also use one session to do a rigorous hip and leg mobility workout to improve our kicking ability.
This intensive is designed to give us a fun and challenging event to drastically improve our kicks. We’ll also be working on kicks in all classes during July.
