Last weekend at the 2026 Louisiana Senior LC State Championships, our Senior State swimmers absolutely crushed it, and they did it against a stacked field. This wasn't just the best 15-18 swimmers in Louisiana, the meet doubled as a qualifying opportunity for international and Olympic-level swimmers plus select college swimmers, all chasing their own cuts. Our kids held their own against elite competition all weekend. We even got a little extra family flavor this year: Coach Monty's mom made the trip in from San Antonio to ref the meet!
Gabbie Escude turned in a phenomenal meet, personal bests in 5 of her 6 events and finals swims in 5 of 6. Her signature swim came in the 400 IM, where she dropped a whopping 8.57 seconds to crack the Top 16. She closed it out by popping another A time, this one in the 100 Fly.
Ian Himel showed out all weekend, personal bests in 5 of his 6 events and three finals appearances. His signature swim was a double drop in the 50 Breast, where he crushed it in prelims and then came back for more in a time trial to shave off another .28, officially securing his A time.
So proud of this squad. π

Ian Himel had a breakthrough swim at last weekend's Louisiana Long Course Senior State Championship meet, securing an A time in the 50 Breast with a clutch 0.28-second drop. His grind paid off big time.
At the 15 & Over Men's level, hitting the top 15% nationally is no small feat.
Way to go, Ian! πͺπ
While our Seniors squad competes at State this weekend, we're still riding the wave from an incredible Age Group State Championship meet, where ten New Orleans Aquatics swimmers took on the best in Louisiana and left it all in the water with hard work and hard swims all weekend long.

Gabbie stepped into the Senior Women's age group this long course season and wasted no time making her mark, earning an A time in the 50 Fly. Aging up in competitive swimming is no small feat, and Gabbie is proving she is absolutely ready for this level.
USA Swimming's Motivational Times are time standards that act as swimming benchmarks. "A" times designate the top 15% of swimmers in an age group nationally. Earning that distinction in the Senior Women's age group means Gabbie is in the top 15% of all competitive women swimmers in the country.
Way to go, Gabbie! ππ

Huge milestone for Porter! He hit his first-ever A time in the 50 Free (long course) this season.
USA Swimming's "A" times put a swimmer in the top 15% of their entire age group across the country. For an 11-12 swimmer, that's serious progressβespecially in a sprint event like the 50 Free.
Way to go, Porter! πͺπ

At just 9 years old, Louna broke into USA Swimming's "A" time club for the very first time this season, picking up first-ever A times in the 200 Free, 400 Free, 100 Back, 50 Back, and 200 IM (long course). An "A" time means a swimmer is faster than 85% of their age group across the country.
With a full year still ahead in the 10 & Under age group across both short course and long course, this is just the start. The sky's the limit for Louna!
So proud of you, Louna! ππ

At only 8 years old, Ilaria notched her first-ever "A" times this season in the 50 and 100 Back (long course). Hitting this milestone before age 9 is huge!
That puts Ilaria in the top 15% of 10 & Under girls in the entire country, with two full years left to swim in this age group. We can't wait to see what's next.
Way to go, Ilaria! ππ

Keon earned his first A times in the 11-12 age group this season, hitting the standard in the 200 Free and 50 Back (long course). Keon picked up his very first A time back in the 10 & Under age group, and now he's backing it up at the next level.
For context, USA Swimming uses Motivational Time Standards to benchmark swimmers nationally by age group. An "A" time puts a swimmer in the top 15% of their age group in the country.
Proud of you, Keon! ππ

Big swim season for Olive! Before aging up from the 10 & Under age group, she broke into USA Swimming's "A" time standard for the first time in her career, not once, but SIX times: 50/100/200 Free and 100 Back (short course), plus 50/100 Back (long course).
Then she topped it off with her first AA time in the 100 Free. What a way to close out this age group!
