How you do one thing is how you do everything.
How a society regards the cyclical nature of womb holders is a reflection of how it treats mother nature herself.
Patriarchy has been extracting from, demonising, trying to control nature for thousands of years.
And yes same for the life bringers.
We are told that our worth comes from our bodies and our beauty, what we can give to others, we are told we are hysterical, too emotional ya da ya da, we are forced to live by a manufactured rhythm that suits the male biological hormone rhythm and not our own. We do not get to claim our monthly 'winter' like the old ways of farming which left the fields fallow to recuperate and rest....

We are done with this yes??

Start with you, reclaim your seasons... One day at a time. 1% each month as .school say.... 🙏

There are so many parallels we can make between the craft of ceramics, pottery and any kind of work with material of the earth.
We are of the earth.
It takes a lot of refining to go from raw earth to clay to a finished vessel that serves its purpose.
Just like us...

By creating a vessel for our blood we are also recreating a womb like structure.
How is that relationship?
Do you hold reverence?
Do you hold shame?
Do you listen?

My hope is with this workshop there will be some communication pathway that opens up between you and your womb, your relationship with your blood and cyclical nature.

I hope you can join

You are born of the earth, of the clay, of the mud.
Let yourself play with the fabric of the material realm and you will be able to touch other realms through your child-like explorations of mud and matter.

The transient nature of expression with mud and blood and fingertips.

An offering to the greatest artist who encourages all attempts to connect with our raw existence, mama gaia.

When all else overwhelms, disappear into the wilds my friend and draw a line in sticks and stone... And see ... Your wild heart come to the surface

I’ve been contemplating the notion of ‘wildness’ a lot recently. 🌲

There's this palpable hunger alive in the collective right now. A belief that if we could just go back—back to the ‘old ways’, back to the village, back to simple living—things would be better.

And I 100% agree. But I also know that we simply can not go back. We can’t forget what our bones already know or the domestication we’ve been chemically altered by for generations.

The best we can achieve isn't wild... it's Feral. And I think it's time we start reclaiming that word. 🐺

I just sent a deep dive on this exact thought experiment to my newsletter community. In it, we explore the true definition of domestication, why seasonal, connected living is our best path forward, and a vision for a new kind of community I'm quietly building behind the scenes.

This full essay is an exclusive for my email subscribers. If you want to read it and join the village, comment feral friends below and I’ll DM you the link to get on the list!👇✨

How do we make something not a taboo anymore?
We have to interact with it...
We have to become curious...
We have to feel what's there...
We have to be prepared to have ourselves changed in the process.

Knowing that menstrual blood was revered for generations. That its flow was welcomed with ceremony, coming of age ritual and rites. That it contains stem cells that are being used at the forefront of debilitating disease research. That it has powerful wound healing capabilities.
That at its core it is what holds and nurtures new LIFE.

Knowing all this isn't enough.
Because, if you still cringe a little bit or feel shame around your bleed. You are denying and squashing a big part of your power of a womb holder!

I'm making something to help you... to help us.... To bring back the sacredness to our bleed and cycle

We are through the portal of Solstice. The peak moment of light, heat, day length, energy.
And the question is, did you feel it?

Has your practice of living attuned with nature been building to this moment and did you feel the full force of culmination?

The monthly cycle of the moon and menstruation is a microcosm of the seasonal shifts. As women we get to practise this ebb and flow. This peak and trough.

Once you get nuanced with your cycle you may see that the seasons mark how you feel them. That the overall cycle might feel more energized within the seasons of waxing energy- from winter solstice to summer solstice.
Certain archetypes are heightened as they pass through their complimentary season.

So ovulating around the summer solstice is extremely potent as the inner mother archetype of abundance and fecundity matches up with the ripeness of the outer season.

I love to track my individual cycles within the year and how they feel for me. And how I felt on certain solar markers as well as the moon's rotation.
This practice just gets deeper and deeper the more you tune in and it's always step one in living more aligned with nature and your own cyclical nature

Most of us were never taught how to live inside a cyclical body — let alone mother from one.

We were told and had modelled to us:
To stay consistent (especially with our emotions)
To say yes when things were asked of us

To push through our exhaustion and follow through come hell or high water

And when we couldn’t …. Unable to match the pace of all the others 'doing it so well' or even dared to resent this expectation, we assumed we were just 'different' or we just had grit our teeth, pull up our big girl pants and try harder

But what if the exhaustion, overwhelm or resentment you feel isn’t a failure —
it’s embodied wisdom?

What if the rage, the tenderness, the sudden clarity, the deep fog…
are all part of an intelligent natural rhythm moving through you?

When I first learnt about the 4 phases of the menstrual cycle and their archetypes I felt seen.

In my sensitivity
In my need to withdraw
In my desire to create and connect

A door unlocked.
I was trying to live to a rhythm that wasn't mine!

If your overriding your capacity, needs and desires on the daily, your body will start to let you know. What you got away with in your twenties and maybe even your thirties doesn't last forever, particularly if you are now mothering.

You can sign up for my week long 'mothering with a cycle' email series and mother's mood map where I go into all this in much greater depth.

I desired more magic in my mundane, sisterhood and a place to hold and speak the bigger dreams and visions I held.

Turns out a lot of us want the same.

Let's honor our deepest desires and see what unfolds.

A few captures from the last week.
On cacao pilgrimmage with in Talamanca on the border of Panama.
So much beauty and magic. So much unabashed joy in a shared reverence for this wise abuela plant medicine.
Meeting with bribri elders and way showers whose every life transition is held with cacao by their side.
Birth, menarche, union, death.

Meeting ancient criollo trees. Sleeping within the groves. Wild storms. The Caribbean sea. The epic Terire river. So much deep belly laughter. Cacao, siempre porque no?

3 Libra moon sisters planting seeds...

I am full....thankyou thankyou thankyou
