MWAHA Special Election Notice

At the June 2026 MWAHA Annual Meeting, the membership approved a bylaw amendment restructuring the Executive Committee. As a result, MWAHA will be conducting a special election to fill the newly created At-Large Vice President position.

To ensure a fair and transparent process, the Executive Committee has established the following timeline:

🗓️ Nomination Deadline: July 20, 2026, at 11:59 PM CT
💻 Special Election Meeting: August 5, 2026, via Zoom

In the absence of a current Nominating Committee, nominations should be submitted to Paige Meyers ([email protected]) and Honore Pittenger ([email protected]), with Shawn Spencer ([email protected]) copied on the email.

Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements outlined in MWAHA policy, including:
✔️ Current USA Hockey registration
✔️ Completed background screening
✔️ Current SafeSport training
✔️ Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form on file with MWAHA

Eligible candidates will receive additional information following the close of nominations. Candidate information will be distributed to the Board of Directors prior to the election, and each candidate will have the opportunity to address the Board during the August 5 Zoom meeting.

The election will be conducted electronically in accordance with the approved election procedures and MWAHA Bylaws.

We appreciate everyone's participation as we continue to support transparent and effective governance within MWAHA.

We love seeing our MWAHA athletes making an impact both on and off the ice. Congratulations to former MWAHA player Ryder Reynolds on representing the Omaha Lancers in the Ralston Independence Day Parade. We are proud to watch our players continue to grow as leaders in our communities and ambassadors for the game. Keep up the great work, Ryder!

A HUGE CONGRATS to MWAHA player Parker Colmer on being chosen for the USA Hockey U17 Team. What an incredible honor to make it to the top level in the USA. Way to go Parker!! We will all be watching!

MWAHA -- Annual Meeting is June 27, 2026 with a social on Friday June 26, 2026 at the Marriott in West Des Moines.

The Annual meeting will also include training in areas such as Association President, New Board Member, Compliance, Registration, Finances, SafeSport etc.

Association Directors/MWAHA Representatives: The annual meeting of the MWAHA Directors will be Saturday June 27, 2026 at the West Des Moines Marriott. It is required that each youth associations MWAHA Director attend.

Please RSVP/Register for the meeting. Directors must be present to vote.

Boys 18U Team Midwest Tryouts
July 12, 2026 at Ames Ice Arena
2:30-4:00pm

July 18-19, 2026 at Ames Ice Arena
July 18, 2026 from 7:45-9:15pm
July 19, 2026 from 12:30-2:00pm

*Only need to attend one of those weekends!
Tryout Cost: $90

Open to all high school boys that will be sophomores, juniors, or seniors for the 2026-2027 season that reside in the Midwest Affiliate or play for a MHSHL team.

The team will play approximately 20 preseason games and USA Tier 2 Nationals to be held in March in Madison Wisconsin. Season cost will be $4,200 payable in 6 installments of $700 starting in July and ending in January (no payment due in December).
