Before the drums fill Nashville, we gather.

As the Music City Drum Show returns to town July 18th/19th, we are kicking off the week with an intimate evening of rhythm, voice, and connection.

This isn’t a performance.
It’s an invitation.

An opportunity to experience what happens when rhythm becomes regulation, voice becomes expression, and community becomes medicine.

Whether you sing every day or never sing at all.
Whether you’ve held a drum for years or have never touched one. You belong here.

Together we’ll explore the ways rhythm reconnects us to our heart beat, our lineage and each other- setting the tone for a weekend that celebrates the universal language of the drum.

Karen-Renée (Kay Ray) Robb, founder of Frame Drum Wisdom and Southern Crystal Company's owner, Taylor Turner are teaming up to bring the 1st Sound Healing Instrument Focused Retail Store to Nashville.

Join us on Saturday, June 27th from 12:00-5:00pm in Old Hickory (just outside of Nashville) for a fun day of sound exploration and play as we feature MEINL Sonic Energy’s incredible line of instruments.

We are excited to serve the community by making these instruments “hands on” available to experience and purchase in the heart of Music City, where sound and music is truly healing!

Come out and see, feel and hear the resonance of the beautiful instruments available and know that we will be a resource for even more in the days ahead.

The next Open To The Public Frame Drum Sale is happening Wednesday, June 3rd at the Southern Crystal Company in Old Hickory (just outside of Nashville).

I will be available from 5-6:30pm at the store for people to come by and find a sonic match (ie. vocal match) with a frame drum meant for them.

Then stay for the Sacred Sound Circle class from 6:30-8:30pm to lean into and learn about the many ways you can interact with the drum, connect with your voice, innate rhythm and the vibrational power that you already have. Its time to reclaim and unleash it.

Our Monthly Gatherings Will Be On The 3rd Wednesday Of The Month at Southern Crystal Company in Old Hickory (Nashville), TN.

(June 17th, July 15th, Aug. 19th |6:30-8:30pm)

This is for all women who drum and all of the women who yearn to drum. This is a community connecting point where drummers of various styles unite with the opportunity to learn and engage, hold space for each other, listen and hear each other‘s voices and honor the rhythm that is uniquely contained within each human being and body.

This is a time and space for women to hold as sacred, and to recognize the power that we hold. In our voices, and in our ability to reconnect with nature and nurture the way forward for ourselves, our families, communities, and the world. Registration will be available soon!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6th is the next Sacred Sound Circle at Southern Crystal Company in Old Hickory.

The experience starts at 6:30, but I will be at the shop from 5:00 to 6:30 to help anyone who wants to purchase a frame drum and mallet for themselves to come by and have a semi-private session to do so.

I will have plenty of frame drums to choose from. The selection of your frame drum will include vocalizing into various drums to find the one that resonates your voice the easiest & best.

It creates a much deeper connection with your frame drum. It’s not about singing, but making sounds into the drum to find where the sweet spot rings for you.

Every drum has a different frequency and it’s important to make sure that the one you buy is a relational and resonant match for you. It will truly become a very important sacred tool for your journey ahead.

And then consider staying for the class where you will learn how to utilize this incredible tool in your daily life to raise your own vibration, using vocals, rhythm and sound vibration massage.

THE POWER OF SOUND

Sound originated in the cosmos and brought forth creation. This concept is evident not only in Anishinaabemowin, the Ojibwwe language, but also in aadizookewin (our storytelling).

Since ancient times, aadizookewin has been regarded as a ritual invocation where the storyteller's voice acts as a channel, breathing life into stories (bimaadizi). Consequently, sound is vital in bringing tales to life.

Although I am not an oral storyteller and instead convey stories through writing, sound is a recurring motif in my narratives. Through my written stories and artworks, I delve into Anishinaabe perspectives, incorporating the spiritual significance of sound, sky-beings, and the natural world. My storytelling often links the sound-making of the Thunderbird (sky power) and the loon (water power) to the Midewiwin (Grand Medicine Lodge) traditions, emphasizing the healing powers inherent in these connections.

Ceremonial objects and natural phenomena, such as rattles (zhiishiigwanan), the thunder (animikiii), the popping of miinikaanan or seeds, and the presence of "singing rocks" (asiniig negamowaad), are frequently included, viewing them as living, sounding entities that hold ancient wisdom and healing medicine.
