Well, Tom orchestrated the most AMAZING surprise for me on day one of our family vacation. After 3 flights all arrived on time in Denver, our daughter, son in law, baby Enzo, Tom and I stopped in Golden, CO for lunch on our way to Keystone. 15 minutes into our lunch this adorable woman comes up to our table and says "are you Tracey Gates, the author?" I was completely taken aback and then she said " it's Meghan Rabbit". Meghan Rabbitt is the extraordinary contributing editor for Maria Shriver's Sunday Paper. She is the woman who literally changed my life when she got me published in The Sunday Paper. We have never met but I reached out to her on a whim a few years ago and Meghan liked my kindness mission and made one of my bucket list items happen. Tom had reached out to Meghan over a year ago trying to arrange a surprise meeting for me. She lives in Boulder with her fabulous husband and they drove a half hour to surprise me. I literally cried for one hour straight during our lunch with them. I actually could't stop! Meghan took a chance on me and my life and my kindness mission got a platform I never dreamed possible. She is as lovely, warm and kind as I imagined. Meghan published her own book this January that is a must read for all woman called "The New Rules of Woman's Health". Please support her as she supported me! Tom, I will cherish that surprise for the rest of my life!

Thanks to Tom being an Honorary Commander in the 621st Contingency Response Wing at Joint Base Maguire Dix Lakhust, I was invited to speak at a leadership retreat for 55 air force leaders. What a dynamic and interesting group of people. The past few months I have shared my kindness message with such a diverse audience- the entire middle school at The Pennjngton School, a church group, a women's club, a the parent's association at a Montessori nursery school, a Wellness center in Massachusetts and now the military. What this has reinforced for me is that Kindess is a Universal message. Age and status mean nothing. Everyone can benefit from both I initiating and recieving kindess!! Tap into your well of kindess. Please consider me for your next speaker.

I had the pleasure and privilege of sharing my kindness mission with a delightful audience at the Doylestown Presbyterian Church on Saturday. There are so many kindness ambassadors in our world and many are part of this community! It was so wonderful to reconnect with old friends, Mac and Katy Schafer.
Remember.....kindness is a choice we can all make.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with gratitude for one another! I had the joy of joining Leslie Kane on the Why Not Today podcast to talk about the power of appreciation and my year of writing one handwritten letter every day. This small intentional practice changed my outlook, my health, and my purpose, and I am grateful we were able to share this story together.
Leslie is inviting her listeners to take the December Kindness Challenge by writing one appreciation letter a day or choosing their own start date if they are listening at a different time. I LOVE this idea and hope it inspires you to slow down and notice the people who make your life brighter.
You can listen to our conversation by clicking on the link in my bio.

"It's simply not possible to be alive without making an impact on the world that surrounds us. Every action taken affects the whole as greatly as actions not taken. And when it comes to making the world a better place, what we choose not to do can be just as important as what we choose to do." I love this quote from the DailyOm reminding us how powerful we each are. We each can do our small part everyday to make a positive difference in our communites so that the next generation can enjoy a loving, beautiful world. Share appreciations, withhold judgement, pick up litter, put down your phone, make eye contact, tell the children in your life that they are loved....engage. Our children and grandchildren are watching us.π
