Happy birthday .jd! Today ought to be a national holiday because of you!

The biggest batch of Odd Ducks to-date just made it to the website. Grab one while you can. From Checkered and Scrolled Axis to Origins that are colored more like crappie jigs than duck calls, there’s something for everybody.

The JD Signature Origin is going to be available today at NWTF booth 746.

.jd hand tuned each of these just the way he likes them. They have his signature on the barrel and a bible verse he picked on the toneboard. We plan to do another batch of these that will be available online at a later date.

JD has been a big part of Makers since the first year and it was time he got some recognition. You won’t find a better person than him and he deserves his time in the spotlight!

Lately it feels like there’s more noise than ever in the hunting world, negativity in everyday life, and a constant pull to be frustrated about something. But seasons like this are a good reminder to slow down and get back to why we fell in love with the outdoors in the first place.

There’s something grounding about time afield. The quiet mornings. The cold air. The anticipation. The conversations in the blind. The lessons passed down without even realizing it. It’s not just about limits or gear or opinions. It’s about moments that stay with you long after the season ends.

Take a kid hunting. Take a friend who’s never been. Leave your phone in your pocket. Breathe it in. Laugh when things don’t go as planned. Be thankful when they do.

Most of all, remember what a blessing it is to have these places, these traditions, and this freedom. The Lord has given us a beautiful world to enjoy and a responsibility to steward it well. Let’s not lose sight of that.
