Mali 🇲🇱 Coach Anthony Da Silva after 1-0 win over Liberia 🇱🇷 🚨
"The artificial pitch is difficult for all the players, and CAF needs to do something to prevent player injuries. On the pitch, Mali tried to build from the back, crossing from the left and shooting on target, while Liberia defended well. They relied on counter-attacks, throw-ins, and long balls to make things happen, but we were prepared for that.
One thing that is also important: when a referee doesn’t know the new FIFA rules, it becomes difficult. For throw-ins, you are supposed to have five seconds. If you don’t throw the ball within five seconds, it should go to the opponent. Today, I saw Liberia taking 20 to 30 seconds—it’s unbelievable.
Ultimately, we are happy. The stadium was packed with fans, and there was a lot of pressure. I am personally very happy to be in Liberia because I am a big fan of George Weah. When he was at Paris Saint-Germain, I was still in the youth team. Coming to his country means a lot because I learned so much from watching him—how to work and how to improve. I am so glad to see the stadium full of supporters. As for the game, I think Mali deserved the win.
Good work to the Liberia players because they fought hard, but it’s normal that Mali won since we were the better team."
