Lacy Ann Hughes, 1973-2026
On Sunday September 13, we suddenly lost not only a fierce competitor but a mother, wife, and dear friend.
Lacy was involved in strongwoman for over 20 years since her first contest in 2004. She saw the sport grow from the ground up, and was one of the key legends who helped the sport of strongwoman turn into what it is today.
Her accolades were vast including a 5th place finish at the 2008 World Strongwoman Championships in Poland, and in recent years she was a staple at Official Strongman Games in the masters category always placing in the top 10.
But Lacy was far more than just an athlete on the competition field. Those of us that got to know the real Lacy, behind that tough exterior was a woman who cared for those she loved more than herself.
She was an incredible mother to her two sons, Zach and Jason. To her husband Chris, she was a best friend & training partner. She wasn’t just a boss at work, but a true leader that was always there with a helping hand. And to her friends, she was everything you could ever ask for… those of us lucky enough to have felt this know exactly what this means.
Lacy will be missed dearly, both on and off the competition floor. Her tenacity, perseverance, and zest for life made her one of the best of us.
Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and loved ones at this most difficult time.
Rest easy Lacy. You’ll always be part of the Cerberus family, we love you.
