Would you swim with us this winter? ❄️🌊
We’re exploring the possibility of adding Winter FastTrack-style sessions for January + February 2027, and we want to hear from our Makai families!

The proposed sessions would include 8 lessons over 4 weeks, with swimmers attending twice a week. We’re also planning to cover the pool to help keep lessons more comfortable through the colder, wetter months. 💙

Due to an event at Congregation Beth Shalom, the parking lot will not be available for Makai families.
Please plan to park on the street and give yourself a little extra time before your swimmer’s lesson.

Building water confidence and swim skills from the very beginning gives little swimmers a foundation they can carry with them as they grow. 💙
Because around here, learning to swim before you learn to walk is kinda chic. 😎

Tomorrow, September 12, the parking lot will be unavailable due to an event at Congregation Beth Shalom.

Cold + flu season is creeping in, so here’s a little reminder from your Makai instructors. 🤧💙
We LOVE seeing our swimmers every week, but swim lessons are close contact. We’re holding hands, catching jumps, helping with floats, and spending a whole lot of time face-to-face with our swimmers.
If your child is actively sick, please keep them home. Even if it means missing a lesson, giving them time to rest helps protect their instructor, their fellow swimmers, and the rest of our Makai ‘ohana.
And a quick reminder: credits and refunds are not provided for missed classes, including illness. If you know your swimmer will be absent at least 24 hours in advance, please use the Trade Book to trade your lesson.
A missed swim lesson is always better than sharing the germs. 🫶🌊

Floatie Mats are one of our favorite tools for helping swimmers practice balance, kicking, body position, climbing on and off, and moving through the water with confidence.

Use them during supervised pool play to turn practice into play, because sometimes the best learning happens when kids are just having fun. 🧡

Cold weather doesn’t mean swim lessons have to feel cold! 🥶🌊
Our pool is heated, and with the right gear, your swimmer can stay comfortable before, during, and after class.
A few Makai cold-weather favorites:
🌺 Splash About wetsuits for an extra layer of warmth in the water
🌺 Swim caps to help little heads stay a bit warmer
🌺 A dry towel, robe, or Splash About After Swim Onesie ready for the second they get out
🌺 A cozy beanie for the trip home
And skip the rash guard when warmth is the goal! Rash guards are designed for sun protection, not insulation, and can actually make swimmers feel colder once they’re wet. For chilly swim days, a wetsuit is the better choice. 🌊

Rain in the forecast? ☔️ That doesn’t necessarily mean swim lessons are canceled!

At Makai, we’re here rain or shine. Our pool is heated, our changing room has space heaters, and we have patio heaters on the deck to help keep those rainy swim days a little cozier. 🌧️🏊

We’ll only cancel when weather conditions make it unsafe to swim, like lightning, hail, or severe storms.

The most important thing to remember: unless you hear from us, plan on coming to your regularly scheduled lesson!

If we do need to cancel, we’ll contact you as quickly as possible by email and/or text and follow up with information about a make-up opportunity or account credit.

And for our swimmers who run a little chilly, ask us about wetsuits, parkas, baby wraps, and extra towels available for purchase. 🩵
