Ken Miller couldn't pass a PVC pipe behind his back on day one. A basic shoulder mobility test. He was shocked.
"I couldn't even bend that behind my back," he says. "That was really revealing how limited I had become."
Three months later, he's working on it every week. The mobility is coming back.
Ken came to Timber & Steel to work on muscle tone and learn proper form. He'd been lifting at home for years, but he was only working at 80% range of motion without knowing it.
"It's like a closer-knit group here, and the coaching is very personalized," Ken says. "That impressed me."

You don't need more workouts. You don't need a harder workout. You just need to work harder in your workout.
Two to three days a week is sufficient for most of us. For everyday life, everyday fitness. The days you're not in the gym matter just as much. Get some sleep. Stay hydrated. Eat decent food. Take care of yourself during the rest of the day so you can make the most use out of your training sessions.
Then show up and put everything into the days you've got. If you've been trying to figure out how to make fitness fit your actual life, come see us. We'll help you build a plan you can keep.

Maybe the things you think you need from fitness don't have any bearing on what your life actually looks like right now.
That goal setting and motivation process matters more than people give it credit for. When you take a step back and think about what you need fitness to do for you, the picture changes. You stop chasing 25 and start training for 40 or 50, or whatever age you actually are.
The goal is simple: enough fitness that the things you want to do don't take a second thought. A high quality of life, doing the things you want, easily. Not chasing a version of yourself that doesn't exist anymore.
Come see the place in Nampa where we help you figure that out.

When you work with a coach, you get options based on how you feel and what you have going on. Someone who knows your name and adjusts the work when your shoulder is bothering you or your back is tight.
That's what coaching brings. A person who watches you work and adjusts it when your body needs something different. You show up, we handle the rest.
If that sounds like what you've been looking for, book a free intro call. We'll talk about what's next for you.

We all experience the craziness. That is part of life.
Back-to-school season pulls the evenings apart, and the first two things to go are the workout and the dinner you meant to make. That does not mean you are a bad parent or that you lack the discipline to make good choices. It means there is a lot to do and nothing got decided ahead of time.
That is built into how Timber & Steel works. We ask how your week actually went, then build around the answer: fewer days, different times, a plan that fits the fall you are walking into instead of the one that looked good in June.
If your schedule is about to eat your training, come talk to us before it does. A free intro call takes 30 minutes and there is nothing to prepare.

How was your week? Has it already left you sore and tired?
That isn't small talk before class. It's the reason today's session might look different for you than for the person next to you. A rough week of sleep, a shoulder that's been barking, a stretch where you only made it in once. We'd rather know, because then we can change what you're doing today and you keep making progress instead of walking out feeling defeated.
A written program can't ask you that question. It's a good program sitting on a page, and it has no idea what your week did to you.
If you're wondering what training here would actually look like for your life, ask us. We'll tell you straight.
