We’ve had a busy week with upgrades to the farm and track in preparation for another wet winter!
Water and mud management are one of the most daunting and frustrating pieces to owning a farm, especially a track system. Now thanks to Bobcat Bob (once again), our track horses will have a safer and drier space to eat this winter. They resurfaced 2/3rds of the track, put in a drainage pipe in the lowest corner so the farthest hay station can stay dry instead of collecting mud, resurfaced another hay station, and they re-did our sand pit so it’s better protected from water runoff and made to last!
We also improved some drainage along the driveway and extended the parking area for better trailer parking for our boarders 🎉

We have 1 rare opening in our self care pasture for an easy keeper mare.
Mid to low in the herd. This group of girls is fabulous but we’ve already got 2 boss mares so the throne is full.

We provide always clean water, salt block, and first cut fescue round bales.

Self Care allows owners to provide and arrange their own feeding.
This pasture is not ideal for a hard keeper.

They’re not as nice as Hollytree Track System stairs but they offer an enriching challenge for the ponies that choose it!

I love having young thoroughbreds come to our track off the “real” track for a let down period! It gives them a chance to reset while also keeping their body moving and brain enriched as they learn to just be a horse. We’ve often had owners keep OTTBs on our track for 6-12 months after racing before starting training for their new sport.

“Remember your why”

It’s easy to get caught up in the stress, frustration, and never ending to-do list of owning a farm.
The greatest advice I ever received going into the equine industry was to always remember my “why”.
Why I wanted this, why I’m doing it, why it all matters.

This handsome cow was and is my why for our track system here at SYC. Since moving here he gets more movement every day than he ever had before, helping managing his insulin resistance. And the exposure to all the different surfaces on our track has continued to improve how he lands and loads his hooves.
Not bad for a 25 year old Navicular horse 😍

✨Track Boarding Availability!✨

We will have 1 spot open March 1st for boarding on our all Inclusive track system. Track system boarding is a natural way of horse-keeping focused on movement, nutrition, foraging, and friendship.

This is ideal for horses who need more movement, thrive with daily enrichment, have dietary restrictions or insulin resistance, or those in need of hoof rehab!

Track board includes high quality tested Timothy/orchard hay year round, customized forage based meals with balanced vitamin and mineral supplements ALL included.

Hay is fed in slow feed hay nets placed around the track at varied heights to promote passive stretching, and in hay stations complemented by mud stabilization grids for stability and hoof protection. Cost is $750/month.

In addition to the track, boarders also have access to our on site trails, arena, round pen, obstacle practice area, barn with individual tack lockers, wash racks, and trailer parking.
