Sometimes you walk in with a whole lot on your mind and walk out feeling a little more like YOU. 🖤💪🏼

Lifting weights is my happy place. There’s something about putting the day down, picking the weights up, and doing something for yourself that just hits different.

But boo, taking care of yourself can look a whole lot of different ways! 👏🏼

🏋🏼‍♀️ Weight training and getting stronger
💃🏼 Group fitness with people who hype you up
🚶🏼‍♀️ Walking outside and getting some fresh air
🧘🏼‍♀️ Yoga, stretching, or slowing down with meditation
🚴🏼‍♀️ Biking, swimming, or dancing to your favorite songs

Fitness isn’t one size fits all, and that’s the beauty of health and wellness. Find what you enjoy, what fits your life, and what helps you feel good physically AND mentally.

You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing. You just have to find YOUR thing and make yourself a priority. You’re worth that time. 💕

CLIENT SPOTLIGHT: Happy 28th Birthday to Linda! 🎉🎂

Every time Linda comes back home from Chicago during school breaks, she makes training at The Garage a priority.
This August was no different, and the work she put in speaks for itself.

We laid out her nutrition blueprint and set the target for her movement, Linda took action and executed every single detail inside and outside the gym.

The results:
Check out these InBody numbers-
• Weight: Down 10 lbs (180➡️ 170lbs)
• Muscle Mass: Gained 4.4 lbs of lean muscle (63.3 ➡️ 67.7 lbs SMM)
• Visceral Fat: Dropped from Level 14 down to Level 9

Building lean muscle while dropping body fat is the goal, and she nailed it. Coaching you and pushing you this month was an absolute blast.

Safe travels back to Chicago for school—go kill it this semester, and I can't wait to get back to work when you're back on your next break! 📈

✈️ TRAVELING DOESN’T MEAN YOUR GOALS HAVE TO STAY HOME. 💪🏼🩷

Going out of town? Pack the food. 👏🏼
Plan ahead. Bring the cooler. Know where your next meal is coming from.

And NO — that doesn’t mean you’re being “too much.” It means you’re choosing to fuel your body in a way that supports the goals you’ve worked hard for.

A healthy lifestyle isn’t about being perfect or never enjoying yourself. It’s about learning balance.

Pack some of your meals so you know you’re getting your protein and fueling yourself properly… AND leave room to enjoy dinner out, grab the fun coffee, try the local spot, or make memories with your people. 🫶🏼

You don’t have to choose between living your life and working toward your goals.

Planning ahead actually gives you MORE freedom because you’re not leaving everything up to chance.

Pack the food.
Enjoy the trip.
Make the memories.
Get back to your routine when you get home.

That’s what a healthy lifestyle looks like. 💪🏼🩷

Consistency + balance will always beat trying to be perfect.

If your lower back hurts after RDLs, you aren’t actually training your glutes—you’re just stressing your spine. 🚫

Movement mechanics dictate muscle recruitment. When you round your spine or lock out your knees, your body bypasses the posterior chain and dumps shear stress into your lumbar spine and knee joints.

By applying proper corrective principles—allowing a soft knee with natural ankle dorsiflexion—your hips can fully translate backward. This stretches the gluteus maximus and hamstrings under tension, giving you maximum recruitment without the joint pain.

The Fix:
1. Ditch the Ego Weight: Master the pattern using an external tactile cue (like a foam roller) to lock in a neutral spine.
2. Unlock the Shin Angle: Allow a soft knee and natural ankle movement so your pelvis can actually translate backward into full hip flexion.
3. Load It Up: Reintroduce dumbbells once the neural pattern is solid.

Train smart, protect your spine, and make every rep count! 🛠️

What better way to close out our 5 year celebration than by putting a massive spotlight on one of our rockstar clients; Carlos Lopez!

Today was a special day because we got to celebrate Carlos being 70 POUNDS DOWN! That’s right 70 freaking pounds! He also went from 32% bodyfat to 9% and is getting ready to compete in his first bodybuilding show!

Carlos and I have a special relationship as coach/client because we truly are the definition of “I lay the blueprint, he builds the house”. Since Day 1 this kid has listened, learned and exceeded even my expectations in so many ways. I’ve seen him get stronger, get faster, grow muscle, torch bodyfat and along the way develop a mindset that shows there are absolutely no excuses if you want something bad enough.

Give it up for Carlos! He is a massive inspiration to not only us here at The Garage but everyone around him! Great job Carlos!

5 years. 💪🏼

As I sit here and write this I still cannot get over the realization that 5 years ago The Garage was born. The concept was born at a table in a Mexican restaurant and flash forward to today where we are celebrating being in our THIRD location and biggest to date with 1 simple goal in mind that has been consistent since day 1, “Helping people get 1% better everyday”.

The Garage was built because we truly felt a calling that people needed a place to not just celebrate the wins, but experience the losses and failures. We’d heard so many people say, “I failed at fitness and nutrition, felt judged, gave up and never went back” and we wanted The Garage to be a place where people could fail; fail at food, fail at lifts, fail at consistency, BUT have the tools, environment and support to get back up and find the way to get the win.

We’ve seen so much over the past 5 years. We’ve had so many wins here personally and professionally, walked with people on their journeys in life, experienced clients have babies and grow their families, watched clients get to the stage for the first time, see clients lose weight, gain muscle and along the way we’ve helped people rebuild who they are and who is looking back at them in the mirror.

Going into year 6 the message this year is simple;

WE RISE.

In life we’ve all gone through hard times, physically, mentally and emotionally and it’s easy to stay there, sit in it and never find your way out, but this year I challenge everyone that in the good and the bad, to find a way to rise, grow who you are, grow your health and wellbeing and build the best version of you that has ever looked back at you in the mirror.

I’m blessed with an amazing team who everyday I am truly thankful for. The Garage is a team, always has been and always will be. I’m truly thankful for anyone who has ever walked in our doors, trained with us, bought a shirt or hat, who helped us move or assemble stuff and anyone who has ever just sent a good vibe our way. The Garage does not exist without you and I will never forget that.

Here’s to year 6, may it continue to bring growth, happiness and an environment with kick-ass music, heavy weights, dogs and support. Let’s go, let’s rise. 💪🏼

POV: you wanted to hit your protein… but you also wanted banana pudding. 😏🍌🍪

Okay boo… MAKE. THIS. Because this Banana Pudding Protein Fluff has absolutely NO business tasting this good. 🤤

🍌 1 tub sugar-free Cool Whip
💪 2 scoops RYSE Banana Pudding Protein Powder
🍪 6 Biscoff cookies, crushed
🥄 30g Biscoff cookie butter, softened

Mix the Cool Whip + protein powder, fold in those crushed Biscoff cookies, drizzle that cookie butter goodness on top and TRY to tell me protein has to be boring. 👏🏼

Sweet. Fluffy. Crunchy. Biscoff-y.
10/10 would demolish again. 😂

Save this one because your sweet tooth AND your protein goals are about to be besties. 💕💪🏼

Balance isn’t just about standing still. It’s about how fast your body adapts when things get shaky. ⚖️

As we age, our brain and muscles stop communicating as quickly, which is how simple trips turn into bad falls. Training your balance keeps those reflexes fast and your joints protected.

Rachel came to me tackling a double challenge: working back from a broken ankle and managing diabetes, which can throw off spatial awareness in a second.

When we first started, she could barely hold 3 seconds on the balance trainer even while holding onto a PVC pipe.
Fast forward to now: she’s balancing completely unassisted for 17 to 20 seconds🤩, actively catching and recovering her balance whenever she starts to tilt.

Look closely at her ankle in this clip. That micro-adjustment to catch herself isn’t a mistake—that’s her nervous system firing to keep her safe and steady in real life.

Watching Rachel build her confidence and strength back week after week has been incredible. She earned every second of this progress!✨-Lalo
