We remember.

25 years ago today, our country experienced a day that changed us forever.

Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We honor the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away. And we remember the families whose lives were forever changed that morning.

At Phoenix, we talk often about respect, service, courage, and doing what's right when it's difficult.

Today is a day to remember what those words can truly mean.

Never forget.

Confidence doesn't come from someone telling you to be confident.

It comes from doing hard things. Struggling a little. Trying again. Getting a little better. And eventually realizing…

β€œI can do this.”

That's what we're building on these mats. πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

Not just better kicks. Not just stronger technique.

Kids who are learning to believe in themselves because they've put in the work to prove to themselves that they can.

Confidence is built here. πŸ₯‹

πŸ₯‹ BELT GRADUATION IS COMING!

Our next Phoenix Belt Graduation will be Saturday, October 24!

Students have been putting in the work, earning their stripes, and getting closer to that next big milestone. Over the next several weeks, we'll be preparing eligible students for graduation day.

πŸ“„ Parents β€” be on the lookout for Belt Graduation forms! We'll begin handing them out soon to students who are on track to graduate.

Remember: receiving a graduation form means you've earned the opportunity to test. Now it's time to finish strong. πŸ’ͺπŸ”₯

Three years. Three banners. πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†

Rutherford County has voted Phoenix Martial Arts the Best Martial Arts Studio in the Main Street Awards for the third year in a row.

2024 πŸ†
2025 πŸ†
2026 πŸ†

Considering we opened our doors in 2023, seeing those three banners hanging from the rafters is pretty special.

Thank you to every Phoenix family, friend, and member of our community who has supported us, trusted us, and voted for us along the way.

We definitely don't take it for granted.

But three in a row does raise one important question…

Are we allowed to say dynasty yet? πŸ˜‚πŸ”₯πŸ¦β€πŸ”₯

08/31/2026

Three years ago today, Phoenix Martial Arts held its very first classes. 🧑πŸ”₯

We had no idea exactly what the next three years would look like.

We just knew what we wanted to build.
A place where kids could become more confident.

Where hard work still mattered.
Where students could learn to lead.
Where families could find a community.

And where people could discover they were capable of more than they thought.

Three years later, we've watched first classes turn into belt promotions.

Beginners turn into competitors.
Students turn into leaders.

Teammates turn into friends β€” and friends turn into family.

We've celebrated championships, black belts, community events, awards and milestones we never could have imagined when we opened those doors.
But the part we're most proud of isn't hanging on a wall or sitting in a trophy case.

It's the people.

Every student who got nervous before walking onto the mats.

Every parent who trusted us with their child.

Every family who told a friend about Phoenix.

Every coach and team member who helped build this place.

And every person who decided to take that first class.

Because that's where every story you've seen us share over the last few weeks began.

With a first class.

Today, Phoenix Martial Arts is officially 3 years old.

Thank you for an incredible first three years.

πŸ”₯ We're just getting started.

In August 2025, the Phoenix Fam came together for our first Kick-a-Thon for a Cause.

The idea was simple.

Our students would use something they do every week β€” kick β€” to help people in our community who needed it.

They found sponsors.

They collected donations.

They kicked.

And kicked.

And kicked some more. πŸ˜‚

Our families jumped in.

Friends and relatives supported them.

And when it was all over, the Phoenix Fam had raised more than $3,000 for Greenhouse Ministries.

There wasn't a medal for this one.

No trophy.

No podium.

Just a group of students and families using what they had to help someone else.

And as we come to the end of these three weeks looking back at Phoenix's first three years, this felt like the right story to finish with.

We've watched our students earn belts.

We've watched them become Black Belts.

We've watched them compete.

We've watched them become National Champions.

But martial arts was never supposed to be only about what you can accomplish for yourself.

It's also about what kind of person you become β€” and what you choose to do for other people.

To every student who kicked, every family who helped, and every person who donated:

You showed what the Phoenix Fam is all about. 🧑πŸ”₯

On Tuesday, Phoenix Martial Arts turns 3.

And after spending the last three weeks looking back...

We couldn't be more grateful for the people who made these three years possible.

You.

Remember that first tournament we told you about last week?

It led here. 🌎πŸ₯‹

In March 2024, a small group of Phoenix students stepped onto a competition floor for the first time.

No competition team.

No national experience.

Just some kids willing to be nervous, step onto the mat anyway, and see what they could do.

A few months later, the Phoenix Competition Team was born.

They trained.

They competed.

They won some.

They lost some.

They got better.

And then in July 2025, Phoenix did something that would have seemed pretty crazy when those first students competed just 16 months earlier:

We went to AAU Taekwondo Nationals.

For the first time, Phoenix athletes competed against some of the best martial artists from across the country.

And they came home with three National Championships. πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡

A year later, we went back.

This time to Fort Lauderdale for the 2026 AAU Nationals.

And Phoenix athletes added two more National Championships. πŸ₯‡πŸ₯‡

Five National Championships in two years.

We're incredibly proud of that.

But when we look back at these pictures, the medals aren't really our favorite part.

It's remembering where they started.

The nervous first tournament.

The first competition practices.

The losses that hurt.

The extra rounds after everyone else went home.

The corrections.

The conditioning.

The travel.

The teammates pushing one another to get better.

National Champions weren't created at Nationals.

They were created in all those ordinary practices when nobody was watching.

Three years ago, Phoenix didn't have a competition team.

Today, five National Championship titles have come home with members of the Phoenix Fam.

And it all started with a few kids willing to step onto the floor for the first time. 🧑πŸ”₯

Never underestimate where a first step can take you.

Some of them walked into Phoenix wearing yellow belts.

Today, they wear black. πŸ₯‹πŸ§‘

When Phoenix opened its doors in August 2023, we had students at all different points in their martial arts journeys.

Some were beginners.

Some came to us with experience.

And some walked into a brand-new Phoenix Martial Arts as color belts, not knowing that they would eventually become part of some of the most important days in our school's history.

In November 2024, Phoenix held its first-ever Black Belt Promotion.

Then in June 2025, another group stepped onto the floor for our second Black Belt Promotion.

Those days weren't really about getting a new belt.

They represented the classes nobody saw.

The nights they came to class tired.

The techniques that wouldn't click.

The corrections.

The frustration.

The times they wanted to quit.

The friendships.

The confidence that slowly developed.

And the decision, over and over again, to keep showing up.

When we look back at pictures of some of these students as yellow belts and compare them to the young men and women wearing black belts today...

That's what three years looks like to us.

Not awards on a wall.

Not how many students are enrolled.

Not how much Phoenix has grown.

How much THEY have grown.

And maybe that's the thing we're proudest of from these first three years.

To every Phoenix Black Beltβ€”and every color belt currently working toward becoming one:

Keep showing up.

One day, someone may put your Day One picture next to the person you've become...

and you won't believe how far you've come. 🧑πŸ”₯
