KNOW HOW TO USE YOUR SLAPPER. 👏🥎

The soft slap is often underused by coaches who simply don’t understand what to do with it.

A great soft slap isn’t just a ground ball.

It’s precision placement paired with killer speed.

Its job is to create CHAOS.

Force the corners to crash.
Make the pitcher defend.
Pull the defense out of position.
Make them rush throws.
Create openings for runners to advance and score.

Everybody loves the big hits…But as we saw in the WCWS, slappers get a job done when those big bats are far and few btwn.

Slappers manufacture hits. They create pressure. They force mistakes. They move runners and find ways to produce runs when nobody is driving the ball.
It gets better! Once that defense is on edge, your slappers can open up the power. That’s what makes them so critical.

Learn how to use the soft slap like a pitch caller learns to set up the next pitch.
It’s game IQ.

Use it like the weapon it was designed to be.

Learn the game, THIS game.

🎤When we talk about pitching injuries, most people immediately think about the ARM.

In reality, many of the girls that begin with us, complaining about existing injuries, the arm is at the bottom of that list.

Landing knee and lower back injuries are more common and many of these issues can be reduced with one thing:

👉 Teaching pitchers how to MOVE correctly.

🥎 THE FRONT KNEE (Plant Knee)

A pitcher creates a tremendous amount of force moving toward the plate. That force has to go somewhere.

When she doesn’t understand how to properly accept, stabilize, and transfer that force through her front side, the landing leg can take a beating. Pitch after pitch, inning after inning, season after season.

A strong front side isn’t just about locking out the knee, It’s about proper positioning, stability, timing, and FORCE transfer.

🥎 THE LOWER BACK

Then we have the pitcher who isn’t creating or transferring enough energy through her lower half.

Instead of the legs and hips initiating the movement, with the torso and arm following in sequence, she tries to manufacture velocity with her upper body.

Now she’s pulling, twisting, shouldering, and muscling the pitch instead of transferring energy efficiently up the kinetic chain.

We teach our pitchers how to move efficiently. We don’t add movement pitches until the body is properly moving. If you can’t command the body, you shouldn’t be learning new pitches.

Every phase of the pitch sets up the next.

How you load affects how you drive.
How you drive affects how you move into flight.
How you move through flight affects how you land.
How you land affects how you rotate and transfer force.
And all of it affects how efficiently the arm can deliver the ball.

You can’t consistently fix the end of the motion without looking at what happened before it.

Ground force - lower half - hips - trunk - arm - ball.

The body should work together and in sequence.

Velocity shouldn’t come from asking the arm or the lower back to do a job the entire body was designed to share.

Better movement isn’t just about throwing harder. It’s about giving athletes the best opportunity to throw harder, longer, and healthier.

🥎 Train the movement.
🥎 Build the athlete.

🎤One of the BIGGEST mistakes parents make in travel ball is believing the name across the jersey is going to get their kid recruited.

It won’t. 🤷‍♀️

How many C-level teams have we watched jump from one “national” organization to another… and then another… and suddenly market themselves as something they weren’t six months ago?

Same players.
Same coaches.
Same level of competition.
Different logo.

A national name doesn’t magically create national-level players.

College coaches recruit PLAYERS, not jerseys.

What DOES matter?

🔥 Knowledgeable coaches who know how to DEVELOP talent.
🔥 Coaches who understand the recruiting process and can advocate for their athletes.
🔥 Quality instruction and measurable development.
🔥 Playing appropriate competition that challenges athletes to grow.
🔥 Game IQ, athleticism, fundamentals, work ethic and coachability.
🔥 Getting athletes in front of the RIGHT schools, not just collecting showcase wristbands.

There are phenomenal coaches and athletes in independent organizations, regional programs and national organizations.

There are poorly developed teams wearing some very recognizable logos.

The logo is only as good as the people underneath it.

Before you choose a team because of the name across the chest, ask better questions:

Who is actually coaching my daughter?
Can they develop her?
Do they understand where she realistically fits at the next level?
Do they have relationships with college coaches?
Will they advocate for her?
Is she actually getting better?

Put your athlete in an environment that PREPARES HER for this journey.

I’ve had many athletes walk through these doors with natural, God given athleticism, never to see their true potential because they lack drive, discipline, work ethic, and a true understanding of what greatness requires.

I’ve seen average athletes with a determination so fierce that they easily surpass those with natural talent because they refuse to be outworked.

Greatness is a choice- one that requires sacrifice.
