What do you complain about repeatedly?
Your schedule.
Other people’s lateness.
Your partner.
Your job.
Your body.
How much there is to do.
I’ve always believed that complaining serves a purpose: to better understand what is dissatisfactory. Then you can determine if you can change it or if you need to change your response.
Complaints help us understand what we deeply value.
If you’re always frustrated that people don’t listen, maybe being understood matters enormously to you.
If you’re always complaining that you have no time, perhaps freedom matters more than you realized.
If you’re constantly bothered by unfairness, maybe justice is one of your core values.
Notice what you are complaining about and then ask - what value is this complaint revealing to me?
As a part of National Yoga Month, we invite you to notice - notice things in your daily life because we know that what you notice in your yoga practice impacts what you notice in life and, most of all, how you deal with what you notice in your yoga practice then allows you to make shifts in your reactions in life’s situations that take place off the mat.
