Mudpuppy Palace Mudpuppy Palace is a nature-based learning center and natural playscape coming to Mt. Vernon, IN. Mudpuppy Palace is excited to be in negotiations to join Mt.

Mudpuppy Palace is a registered 501-(c)(3) non-profit organization. Vernon, Indiana within the next year. Founded by two Mt. Vernon natives, it will be a unique learning center for ALL ages. Named after Indiana's native salamander - the Mudpuppy, our mission is to support young learners through natural play and outdoor exploration. Similar to a children's museum but with nature center components, the Mudpuppy Palace campus will have both indoor and outdoor facilities with the goal of providing a safe space for anyone to explore the wonderment of nature during all weather and seasons. It will also be home to a walking trail of native plants, as well as several garden plots and an outdoor classroom pavilion. Stay tuned for more information about daily admission, camps, classes, field trips, birthday parties, facility rentals, and more!

Now that the dust has settled from River Days this past weekend, we need to thank a TON of people.

Thank you to our board. For always supporting us and following through to help us in anyway possible. Your backing means so much to us and we would not be where we are today if we didn’t have you all!

Thank you to our group of volunteers this weekend. It was hot. You were on your feet. A lot. And you all handled it with flying colors. We could not have done it without you.

Thank you to everyone who stopped to see us. Whether you bought a play pass, made some slime at our slime bar, or just simply stopped to talk with us. You are the reason we keep showing up!

This weekend just solidifies for us even more that what we are doing is needed. It is wanted. And it is enjoyed by all ages. Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!! 💜🧡💚

🌊 RIVER DAYS, HERE WE COME! 💜💚

Marty’s Mobile Mudroom is rolling into Mt. Vernon River Days THIS Friday & Saturday, and we’re bringing a whole lot of MESS with us! 🙌

📍 Find us at Walnut & Water Streets, next to The Landing
⏰ Friday, Sept. 11 | 10 AM–8 PM
⏰ Saturday, Sept. 12 | 9 AM–8 PM

For just $5 per child (ages 1+), grab an ALL-DAY PLAY PASS and come and go as much as you’d like! As long as kiddos are supervised by their grown-up, they can explore, create, build, investigate, play—and come back for more later! 💦🔬🧱🎮

We’ll have water tables, sensory bins, engineering manipulatives, Folkmanis puppets, our NEX gaming system, 3D printers running LIVE, and plenty more hands-on STEAM and nature-inspired fun.

✨ PLUS… we’re bringing a DIY SLIME BAR!
For $5 a container, mix up your own slimy creation to take home. 🧪💜

And don’t forget to shop our nature-themed merchandise! We’ll have shirts, totes, 3D-printed goodies, and our famous Explorer Packs—packed with tools to get kids outside investigating and discovering. 🌿🔎

Whether you stay for 20 minutes, hang out for an hour, or visit us five times throughout the day, your play pass has you covered.

☀️ Well… Mother Nature won this round. 🥵💜

With extreme heat in the forecast, we’ve made the tough decision to cancel tomorrow’s Marty’s Summer Splash Bash at Cooper’s Cones.

As much as we love messy, muddy, splash-filled fun, keeping our little explorers, families, volunteers, and staff safe comes first. (Marty tried to tough it out… but even mudpuppies have their limits! 😅)

We’re so sorry for the change and appreciate your understanding. Stay tuned though… we’re working on a few pop-up dates in August still!

To say we have been busy this summer is a HUGE understatement!! But we have loved every minute of it. And we've enjoyed being able to travel the tri-state with Marty's Mobile Mudroom and bring education and outreach to SO many people! Here's just a short video of what we've been up to.

Recently we were posting Marty's Sunday Spots. We've been SO busy this summer we haven't had a chance to keep up with them! Today we're going in a little bit different direction with Marty's Sunday Spotlight. In the weeks to come, I'd like to spotlight some apps and products that we use when we're out and about.

🦉🦆🐦🦅This weeks Sunday Spotlight is the the Merlin App from Cornell University. This is a free app you can download on your device to help with bird identification. One of our favorite parts of this app is the ability to record while outside and the app identifies the bird species you are hearing. So cool, right?
