Buckley’s Mountainside Canoes has a long legacy in canoe racing.

For example, this 1973 article featured Buckley’s founders John and Donna in the AuSable Canoe Marathon.

Donna and her friend were the first women in history to participate in the AuSable Canoe Marathon.

Donna’s husband, John, was described as “one mean-minded ogre” and a “college man.” John’s team came second that year.
