Cobber Distance Alum out crushing!

Three recent Cobber grads had great racing weekends!
Carter Ferber (‘26) competed in his first Ironman 70.3 in Santa Cruz. He placed 4th in his age group to qualify for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship!

Elsie Hatlevig (‘24) placed 7th for women overall at the Dick Beardsley Half Marathon in her prep for Twin Cities Marathon!

Leo Smith (‘23) ran a HUGE PR of 1:08:14 at the City of Lakes Half Marathon to place 3rd! Nice checkpoint for him as he gets ready for Chicago Marathon!

Student-Athlete Highlight ✨ Emery Holland

“One of the most important things about training as a distance runner is consistency. Not every run or practice is going to be easy, but it is important to still show up and get the work done every day to better yourself and succeed in your goals. I’ve learned that consistency is also important in the classroom. You aren’t going to be motivated about every single assignment, but it is important to keep showing up and putting effort in.

Being a student-athlete has taught me that success does not happen overnight. Success comes from the little things, like running the extra mile at practice, keeping a positive mindset when things get tough, or studying and staying on top of assignments. What I have learned from being an athlete has helped push me in the classroom to do my best and be consistent with studying and my assignments.” -Emery Holland

Cobber XC 🤝 Dragon Twilight
Our women’s team picked up right where we left off, finishing 2nd place at the Dragon Twilight for the 2nd year in a row!

Ashley Nelson led our team for the 3rd straight year, placing 13th overall.

Kelyn Henry-Perlich was 16th, Londyn Ames was 20th, and Lilly Dickinson was one second behind Londyn in 21st.

Sophomore Alayna Neu was a team scorer for the first time in her career, placing 34th, and Amelia Rowley was close behind in 35th. First year Hannah Masselink made our top 7 in her first meet of her college career!

Dragon Twilight 2026
Rust = busted

Our men’s team placed 5th out of 11 teams to open our season at the Dragon Twilight!

Tyler Goss ran a lifetime best 6k of 18:47 to lead the squad, and the next 9 of our top 10 were all freshmen or sophomores 🤯 The future is bright!! 😎

Grant Nelson, Gavin Carl, Stetson Gisselbeck, and Henry Lockwood were our scorers and Weston Mahar and Isaac Schleif rounded out our top 7.

One of the biggest highlights of the night was having a full Alumni squad compete alongside us, led by our very own Cobber XC Assistant Coach Munir, who placed 5th with a 6k PR of 17:43!

Sophomore Gavin Carl scored as our 3rd runner in his first 6k ever

Sophomore Stetson Gisselbeck ran strong to score in 4th

First year Henry Lockwood (Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale, MN) was our 5th scorer in his first college meet!

Sophomore Weston Mahar was our 6th runner with a strong start to the season

First year Isaac Schleif (Northfield, MN) was our 7th runner in his first college meet 💪
