September 19th is National Dance Day in the United States! Today we celebrate all that dance gives us and remember that dance is for EVERYONE! All ages, all abilities, and in all genres - you don’t have to be a pro, you just need to get moving and have fun. Take time out of your day today to turn your music up and have a dance party by yourself, or with your friends or family.

We're excited to announce that Adult Ballet with Isadora is back, for a limited series this fall!

This open-level ballet class is designed for adult dancers who want to build strength, coordination, musicality, flexibility, and confidence in a supportive environment. Whether you are returning to ballet after time away, continuing your current training, or looking for a thoughtful way to move, the class offers a welcoming space to work at your own pace while still being challenged.

Some previous ballet knowledge is helpful, but dancers do not need extensive experience. Classes will include barre work, center exercises, and movement across the floor, with attention to alignment, placement, balance, and movement quality. Options and modifications will be offered for different levels of experience so dancers can build a strong foundation, refine their technique, and feel successful in class.

Held at the Montpelier Arts Hub (across the street from CD&FS), classes start on September 22nd and will be held on Tuesdays, 6:45pm - 8:00pm. This class ends December 14th, and we'd love to have you for this limited time. Tuition is $63/month.

Bring a Friend Week is back! From September 21st - 27th , students can bring a friend to their classes and join in our dancing. This week is a great opportunity for you to bring a friend that might be interested in dance - they get to try class for free!

Teens and adults! Our season has started, but enrollment is still open! We offer classes for beginners through advanced dancers in ballet, hip hop, jazz, modern, and tap. We have lots of drop-in friendly classes, but also offer monthly tuition for those looking for a regular commitment. Never danced before? It’s never too late to start. Our classes offer a welcoming environment that will support you while also giving you a challenge for wherever you are in your dance journey.

We have a new phone number! Thank you for your patience while we troubleshoot our phone services - we are with a new service now, which means a new (in-state!) number. We have new and returning faces at the studio this season!

First off, we'd like to welcome back Rose Leach! Rose studied at CD&FS during her teen years and performed with the first Teen Jazz group under the direction of Lorraine Neal. Currently, she shares her love of movement as an elementary PE and Health teacher in public schools in Vermont. We are so excited to have Rose teaching Contemporary 1/2 this year after some time away!

And we're very excited to introduce our new teen/adult hip hop teacher, Sam Parker! Sam is a Vermont native whose dance journey began in Waterbury at age 7. By age 12, he had begun pursuing dance more seriously, continuing his training at Unity Dance Complex in Williston, where he worked with choreographers from Los Angeles and New York. During his eight years in LA, he performed and worked with artists including Janet Jackson, Phyno, Wale, and many others. Sam will be teaching all of our Wednesday hip hop classes this year - and there's still time to sign up!

Finally, please give a warm welcome to our new front desk assistant, Otto Mabley-Ward! Otto is a Senior at Vermont State University Lyndon in the Applied Psychology and Human Services program. She is the choreographer and president of the Twilight Players, the theater troupe on campus. Otto enjoys all types of dance, but currently dances with an ensemble in a variety of styles. When Otto is not at the studio, you can find them teaching at an Afterschool Program or volunteering with an elementary theater group.​ Otto will be helping us out at the front desk on Saturdays and assisting Jr Modern 1-2 with Sylvie. Please give them a warm welcome!
