It was a big weekend for ARG athletes as trail season is truly underway!
We had a number of athletes compete at Gorge Waterfalls in northern Oregon. Madalyn lined up in the 30k for a battle of speed, and walked away in the top 20 in a very strong field. She's run the 100k there before, but it was a different experience covering the same trails faster!
Adam ran the 100k and crushed it with a massive negative split! He learned a lot out there, with the biggest lesson that he can run faster!
Eliot, Megan, and Jay all ran the 50k on Sunday and each had a day out there! Eliot blew his goal time out of the water and ended up winning his age group as the first 50+ year old across the line. Megan returned to racing after a few months off, and unfortunately rolled her ankle early in the day. She managed to refocus though, and work her way back up into the top 30. Jay didn't get much of a taper as normal since he will be lining up for Mingus Traverse in a couple weeks. But this was a fantastic last long run for him and we're excited to see what he can do in Arizona.
What we love seeing is that everyone at Gorge moved up through the field the entire day!
Meanwhile, in Utah, Abby attempted her first 100k at the Zion 100k. She made it 50k before it became medically necessary to stop due to stomach issues. Up until then though she ran super tough, problem solved her way through a rough situation, and still PR'd in a 50k! She will be back!
In Washington farther up the Columbia river, Drew ran the Ancient Lakes 25k. He took it out a bit hot, reset, and rallied for the last loop, which we love to see. But he also was able to look around and appreciate the unique landscape. Which is a major reason we love trail running!
Great work out there everyone, more exciting things to come!
