There’s no one size fits all approach to fitness. Your goals, experience, lifestyle, strengths, limitations…it all matters when it comes to building an effective program for you.

Individualized programming means we build a plan around that takes into consideration all those factors and what would be the most effective for YOU to safely and efficiently reach your goals.

⭐️ If you could relive one moment of the race, what would it be and why?

“The finish line, because that was hard.”

⭐️ What’s one thing I didn’t know about training for this?

“The consistency it takes to build both strength and cardio… and learning to show up for myself every single day.”

⭐️ What was going through my head at the toughest moment of the race?

“Keep going. The pain is temporary.”
“At my first race, my daughters were there watching me, and I wanted them to see what strength really looks like, physically and mentally. I wanted to show them that you never give up, even when it’s hard. So clearly I couldn’t look like a wimp.”

“The environment in the tunnel and pushing the sleds.”

“Definitely underestimated how much running I needed to do LOL”

Another race recap loading! We are proud of Coach Benjamin’s race in Miami. Here’s what he had to say:

⭐️ If you could relive one moment of the race, what would it be and why?

“I’d go back and relive the sled push. The past few races the sled push had my number. Pretty much the only station I feel pre-race anxiety about. But unlike previous training blocks I actually trained the sled push intentionally and when test day came in Miami, I had the answers. Work your weakness and your strength gets stronger.”

⭐️ What’s one thing you didn’t know about what it takes to train for this?

“The one thing that confronts me again and again in training is delayed gratification. It’s realizing I have to embrace being bad at something if I ever want to be good at it. It’s developing the tolerance for the mundane and the boring. It’s the mental warfare it takes to know that doing the same monotonous painful running intervals again and again won’t even pay off for months… or years. It’s reminding myself that bad workouts are part of progress - if you let them be. You don’t climb mountains in a straight line.”

⭐️What was going through your head at the toughest moment of the race?

“Gratitude.
Gratitude that I get to spend hours and hours training. Gratitude that I showed up healthy enough to compete. Gratitude that I had the means to travel and spend a great weekend with my family and friends. Gratitude for the amazing OPEX community that was with me.”

⭐️ If you could relive one moment of the race, what would to be and why?
“Seeing my husband and daughter while I am out there on the course is so fun. It gives a boost of confidence getting to see a happy and familiar face in the crowd. I’d relive the race any day with their support.”

⭐️ What’s one thing people don’t know about what it took for you to train for this?
“Others have said this but the number of times I wanted to quit is pretty high. The mental game of training for something like Hyrox is tougher than the race itself. The tough training sessions and the time from signing up to race day, things get heavy. I have big goals to reach for, all of these goals I want to achieve take hard work and a lot of patience. Having a 1.5 year old makes me realize I have an audience to my goals, and the weight of setting a good example for trying to do hard things always wins.”

⭐️ What was going through your head at the toughest moment of the race?
“Just get moving. Funny enough for me the toughest part is the wait for the start time on race day. I get very anxious and nervous waiting until the afternoon to start racing. To help stay in my paces and race my race, not get overly excited by all the commotion, I held back in the start tunnel to be the last to start in my group reminding myself I trained for all of this and I am more than ready.”

Next up …. Austin!! Super proud of you!

⭐️ If you could relive one moment of the race, what would it be and why? — “If I could relive a moment in Miami’s race it’d be the first run. My prior races I thought my first runs felt great but soon realized I’d started too fast and regretted it. This time my partner and I locked into a pre-planned pace and I rode that high deep into the second half as we hit run after run. A controlled start made all the difference!”

⭐️ What’s one thing you didn’t know about what it takes to train for this? — “One thing I didn’t know about training for Hyrox was how often I’d want to quit. I’m not talking about giving up altogether. I mean the kind of quitting no one else would ever really know about. The internal difference between pushing for improvement (which requires an often surprising level of discomfort) vs taking things just “good enough”. Having a partner this time was a big motivator to keep pushing and I’m looking forward my next solo race!”

⭐️ What was going through your head at the toughest moment of the race? — “The verse of scripture on the back of my shirt gave me the boost I needed at that moment. It was purposefully chosen due to the timing of our race which happened to fall on Easter Sunday. Hebrews 12:1 -2 “Let us run with endurance... looking to Jesus” That moment came on run three and that powerful reminder carried me to the end.”
