Minnesota nonprofit MNFI to dissolve amid attorney general's allegations of illegal labor practices 08/11/2026

Delaware North workers at Target Field have been sounding the alarm about non-profits at Target Field during contract negotiations.

Now Attorney General Keith Ellison is standing up for workers!
"Charities can't do an end-run around employment law by abusing their nonprofit status to save on labor costs," Ellison said in a statement. "MNFI was a sham charity that took advantage of parents who wanted to afford their children's activities by luring them into 'volunteering' their labor in exchange for future 'grants,' which is a clear violation of Minnesota law."

On July 30, the Union filed an additional ULP charges alleging Delaware North failed to bargain in good faith with the Union by subcontracting Union work to reportedly misclassified workers from apparently “sham charities.”

Yesterday, July 29, the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office announced that a “sham charity” that was staffing concessions for Delaware North at Target Field has shut down after an investigation into employee misclassification and self-dealing. The Union has filed an additional ULP charge and called on Delaware North and all concessionaires at major league stadiums to immediately stop using organizations like MNFI, which has now been shut down thanks to the Minnesota Attorney General, to staff concessions.

Delaware North workers at Target Field have been without a union contract since January 1. Many make minimum wage, and struggle to access health insurance through their employer. .
