Yesterday, a closet reminded me of one of the best coaching lessons I've learned.
I spent hours trying to figure out the "right" way to organize this tiny closet.
I measured, brainstormed, made a mood board, changed directions more times than I can count, and finally installed a single shelf.
Then I stepped back... and realized this closet wasn't meant for one shelf at all.
It was meant for multiple wide shelves from floor to ceiling.
I'd never have seen it if I'd kept standing there trying to think my way to the perfect answer.
It reminded me that overthinking rarely creates clarity.
Movement does.
Sometimes you don't need more certainty.
You need more information.
And the fastest way to get it is often to take the next imperfect step.
The next right step isn't always the one that solves the problem. Sometimes it's the one that helps you see it differently.

I bought new spice jars because some of my old ones were broken.
I figured it'd be a quick project.
The last couple of days, I stood in my kitchen way longer than I needed to, trying to decide exactly where everything should go.
It made me laugh because this is what perfectionism often looks like.
Not perfect results.
Overthinking. Rearranging. Wondering if there's a better system. Trying to get it "just right."
The funny thing is... it wasn't really about the spice jars.
I see this same pattern in coaching all the time.
It shows up when someone wants to start a business but keeps researching.
When they know they need to have a conversation but keep rehearsing it.
When they want to improve their health but spend more time making the perfect plan than taking the first step.
Overthinking can feel productive because our brain is busy.
But busy isn't always the same as moving forward.
The spice cupboard eventually got organized.
It just reminded me to ask myself a different question:
Where in my life am I organizing spice jars instead of moving forward?
I have a feeling we all have a few.

You've read the books.
Listened to the podcasts.
Taken the courses.
So why are you still stuck?
Because information isn't usually the problem.
I don't coach from theory. I coach from lived experience.
I've built businesses, written a book, renovated homes, improved my health, and walked through relapse, betrayal, grief, recovery, and reinvention. I've helped people strengthen relationships, reconnect with their values, launch businesses, improve their health, and finally follow through on the things that matter most.
I'm still on the journey too.
I don't have a perfect life, and I'm not interested in pretending I do. I'm committed to doing the work, learning, growing, and living what I teach.
I know what it's like to build a meaningful life when life doesn't go according to plan.
You don't need another inspirational quote.
Some people need clarity. Others need accountability. Most need a safe place to think, challenge their blind spots, and move forward with confidence.
That's the work I love.
If you're ready to stop spinning and start moving forward, send me a message. Let's see if coaching is the right fit.

The last couple of weeks have been incredibly emotional. We were given just 14 days to clean out my mom's apartment after she passed away, and we're almost done. It's been physically exhausting, emotionally draining, and I can definitely feel it catching up with me.
The emotions have come in waves. Sadness, gratitude, laughter, exhaustion... all of it. I don't try to change what I'm feeling. I just stay present with whatever is here.
I've caught myself a few times reaching for my phone to tell Mom how the apartment clean-out is going. Then I remember we're cleaning out her apartment. Grief is strange like that.
Thank you to everyone who has reached out, sent condolences, prayed for us, helped us, or simply checked in. Every message has meant more than you know.
One thing this experience has reminded me is that grief doesn't have a timeline. The support is often strongest in the beginning, but the loss continues long after life seems to return to normal for everyone else.
If someone crosses your mind after they've experienced a loss, don't assume it's been too long to reach out. Send the text. Make the call. Let them know you're thinking of them. It will probably mean more than you realize.
Thank you to everyone who has walked alongside our family during this season.

Self care doesn't always look like bubble baths, massages, or a weekend away.
Sometimes it looks like spending an hour in the woods with your dad helping clear trails and swinging a machete around.
Sometimes it looks like a workout.
Sometimes it looks like making music on my computer for a little while.
Right now life is full.
My mom is on hospice.
I'm planning a graduation party.
I'm working.
Parenting.
Managing a household.
Trying to keep all the balls in the air.
There will always be something else that needs my attention.
I've learned that waiting until life calms down before taking care of myself doesn't work. There will always be another task, another responsibility, another reason to put myself last.
For me, self care is less about escaping my life and more about creating enough space to keep showing up for it.
Good self care isn't one-size-fits-all.
It's whatever helps you come back with a little more energy, a little more perspective, and a little more capacity to be there for the people and things that matter most.

I completely broke down in my car today and cried after leaving an appointment that made a difficult reality impossible to ignore.
Later, I snapped at my husband.
Neither of those things are how I want to show up in the world.
But they happened.
And it got me thinking...
People often won't admit it out loud, but underneath it all, many of us believe having it all together is some kind of virtue.
That being affected by life is weakness.
That struggling means we're doing something wrong.
That capable adults should be able to handle it all without missing a beat.
But life doesn't work that way.
Life affects us.
Loss affects us.
Grief affects us.
Change affects us.
Love affects us.
I'm not sure being unaffected by life is the goal.
In fact, I think the things that affect us most are often the things that matter most.
Don't be afraid to feel it.
That's what it means to be alive.

I've created about 100 short guided meditations over the years, and I thought it might be time to start sharing some of them again.
This week's meditation is about self-trust.
If you've been overthinking, second-guessing yourself, or looking everywhere else for answers, this is a chance to slow down, tune in, and reconnect with yourself.
I'd love to hear what comes up for you if you give it a listen.

Some of the best moments in life are the simplest ones.
Beach day yesterday. Gnome trail the day before.
I’ve always valued experiences and simple moments with my kids. I also know what it’s like to rush through a day, hurry everyone along, feel stressed, overwhelmed, distracted, or pulled in too many directions. I definitely still have those days too.
Over time, I’ve become even more aware of how important these moments really are.
Movement.
Fresh air.
Sunlight.
Play.
Curiosity.
Connection.
Not everything meaningful has to be deep, intense, or productive.
Sometimes life is just meant to be lived.
