The week is winding down, but around here, the horses are still keeping us busy.

A ride here.
A grooming session there.
A little horse care.
A little barn chatter.
And plenty of moments that remind us why we love this life.

We're settling into our new home in Milton and loving the opportunity to create something special here—a place where riders can learn, horses can thrive, and people can simply slow down and enjoy being around them.

Today, Holly and I traded the ring for the trails and enjoyed a quiet ride around our new home in Milton.

There’s something about riding out together—listening to the sounds of the farm, taking in the trees, and simply being present with your horse.

For us, horsemanship is about more than what happens in the saddle.

It's about connection.
Confidence.
Trust.
Curiosity.
And learning to experience the world together.

That's part of what makes our new home so special.

The Ride Doesn’t End When You Dismount

At Sunny Brook Stables, we believe some of the most important parts of riding happen before and after the ride.

It’s learning to prepare your horse.

It’s cooling down, untacking, grooming, and caring for the horse who carried you.

And sometimes it’s simply walking back to the barn together after a good ride. ❤️

VOLUNTEERING WITH HEART ❤️

Sometimes volunteering at Red Heart Horse looks like feeding, grooming, cleaning stalls, or helping around the farm.

And sometimes it looks like this.

Detective Lee spending a little time loving on River, our blind horse, and his best friend, Cactus the donkey. ❤️

Because sanctuary isn't only about providing a place for horses to live.

It's about the relationships we build with them.

It's about slowing down.
Showing up.
Learning their needs.
Earning their trust.
And giving them the dignity and care they deserve.

We're incredibly grateful for people like Detective Lee who give their time and heart to our horses—and who also dedicate themselves to serving others through the Honor Guard Foundation, supporting fallen servicemen and servicewomen and honoring their sacrifice.
