We are heartbroken to share the unexpected passing of Michael Sweetney, former NBA player and beloved basketball coach at Total Specialty Camps.
For the past four summers, Michael was so much more than a coach. He became a cherished part of our TSC and NJY Camps family, known for his kindness, warmth, and remarkable ability to connect with our campers.
Some of our favorite memories are of Michael gathering campers together and sharing his stories. He had a special way of capturing their attention and turning his own experiences into meaningful lessons about life, perseverance, and character.
Michael was also a true friend and ally to Israel and the Jewish people. His support was heartfelt and unwavering, and it meant so much to our community, especially during difficult times.
Michael was a mentor, a friend, and someone whose impact will remain with our community for years to come. We are deeply grateful for the summers we shared with him, the lessons he taught, and the countless lives he touched.
Our hearts are with Michael’s family, friends, and all who loved him.
As we approach Yom Kippur, we hold Michael and his loved ones especially close in our thoughts.
May his memory forever be a blessing.
