This Summer I have had the privilege of stepping in to coach the 16U NE PRIDE SOFTBALL team after an injury to their head coach. And what a fabulous opportunity and experience. The families I have been lucky to meet and talented young ladies I have been able to work with have made this an adventure I will never forget. The girls are tough, talented and so intelligent. As it comes to a close today in the elimination round in Lowell, it becomes real that I won’t get to spend my weekends with these awesome young ladies. I would like to say thank you to all the people involved and especially Coach Rey for having the trust in me to help out this wonderful program. Coach Rey loves his girls and loves the sport. I truly wish for great things for him, his family and his program. And to all the girls I have coached, I will always cheer for you and hope for all your successes on and off the field. At16U, you know the games are starting to be limited. The minutes you get to watch them are not endless but now you are able to start realizing that their softball careers are coming to an end faster than we think. Enjoy every minute, every pitch, every swing and every car ride. This is the first team where I have girls driving themselves to practice. And as my Gracie is heading off to college and her last games coming this week, I would just say to cherish it. Hug them when they need it, play catch when they ask and listen after their games/practices without wanting to respond. Whatever the outcome today, thank you for making my life better this Summer. I will forever be grateful for this experience and the connections I have made. And this coach is available to help forever not just a Summer. You can reach out whenever you think you need anything. Let’s go get em Pride!!!!
