I start this adventure off kayak-fishing Cowan Lake for largies with Big Joshy Swimbaits.... then I move to wading the beautiful Little Miami River system catching an assortment of bass on nothing but the formidable hellgrammite lure made by Blind Squirrel Baits. I'm using my custom-made 7' light-medium/fast rod by Little Miami Rods, paired with a Shimano Vanford 2500HG. It's ridiculously hot out here. 🥵

The Little Miami River has been a little fast and muddy lately, so I've been following tributaries off of it. Found a decent stretch full of native species. I'll link the video of everything we caught and what we caught them on in the comments below if you're interested in more. Fish were hitting top water, and smaller chartreuse and black lures that pop in cloudy waters. Just used light tackle, BFS style fishing.

[full video in comments] Nothing but fun in the Little Miami River catching a nice handful of bass on lite tackle and a BFS setup. Grubs and crankbaits seemed to do the trick in these somewhat stained waters. Where were the smallmouth hiding though? 😝 7' Light-Fast Little Miami Rods BFS rod paired it with a DAIWA PX BF TW 70 BFS Reel, strung with 6lb Daiwa J-Fluoro fluorocarbon.

[full video in bio] I tried out this incredible BFS combo in the Little Miami River system and caught over a dozen bass in just a couple hours of wading. My favorite rod builder Jeff Byrd from Little Miami Rods built me a 7' Light-Fast BFS rod and when I paired it with a DAIWA PX BF TW 70 BFS Reel, I could not believe how far I could throw the lightest of lures (especially on a baitcaster!) Had a blast in the LMR, and the fish were everywhere. Strung it up with nothing but 6lb Daiwa J-Fluoro fluorocarbon. I only threw family-owned, small business lures and the bass did not discriminate. Helgies and grubs from Blind Squirrel Baits did the trick!
