Fort Adams Fun Facts!

* Fort Adams was first built in 1799, making it more than 200 years old.
* It is named after John Adams, the second President of the United States.
* The fort was built to help protect Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay from enemy ships.
* Fort Adams is shaped like a star, which helped soldiers see and defend every side of the fort.
* It is one of the largest coastal forts in North America.
* The fort has hundreds of rooms, tunnels, and passageways to explore.
* Even though it was built for defense, Fort Adams was never attacked in battle.
* U.S. soldiers trained and worked at Fort Adams for more than 150 years.
* Today, Fort Adams is a state park where visitors can tour the fort, learn about history, and enjoy beautiful ocean views.
* Every summer, the fort hosts the famous Newport Jazz Festival and Newport Folk Festival.

Hi my name is Lily and this is my 3rd year as a counselor at AIDC. Outside of camp, I enjoy traveling, hiking and going to the gym. I’m super excited for another amazing summer filled with great memories!

We are so Thankful to continue to have Lily’s soft demeanor and kind heart with us again this year!!!

On this rainy camp Monday let’s say hello to Mr. Tali!!

Mr. Tali is new to camp this summer but has spent his life being a role model to kids!! He is a recent graduate of North Kingstown High School and is off to Connecticut this fall to play Prep football!! We are grateful to have his young energetic experience this summer!!

Meet our 4 year veteran counselor Mr. Landon!!

Landon is a finance and business major at JWU, where he is also a player on the men’s basketball team! Landon can often be found in the gym or fishing! His favorite part of camp is the connections with each kid and getting to see them grow and progress each year!!
