Our hearts are heavy as we say goodbye to a truly special horse who touched so many lives. Braveheart wasn’t just a working horse, he was a gentle healer, a steady companion, and a source of joy and freedom for countless disabled youth and veterans. He gave the gift of connection, confidence, and peace to those who needed it most. His legacy of service and love will live on in every rider whose life he brightened.
Becky said it best in her beautiful eulogy…
“It is with a very heavy heart that I announce the passing of my Big Beautiful Boy Braveheart who was my first baby and heart horse that made a difference in the lives of so many Veterans, visitors, volunteers at Hope Therapy. My Mom and I bred him and my Dad helped deliver him in Texas and we have been blessed to love him for 28 years! I realized the impact of his presence although not a regular therapy horse with the children he was always the goal to get big enough and skilled enough as an equestrian to ride him! The calm strength and majestic
"American Pharaoh" good looks with a kind eye could make your stress melt away and the feeling of being "on top of the world" on his 16'3 hand stature! | know the kindest gift he was given was to let him join my Dad, my son Blake and his precious and very missed mother Sasha in heaven's green pasture on a glorious day filled with blue skies, hugs, back scratches, pets, grooming, favorite treats, and love from his family, friends, volunteers, and therapists at Hope Therapy where he lived since 2000. Ride tall Blake on my big Brave and handsome horse through God's golden streets and trails until I can join you with Irish, Roanie, Honey, Rocky, and the crew that miss you!”
