Working on a Palomino. As we used to jokingly say Pal-O-Mine. Cool fish. It will end up quite orange. Palomino’s golden coloring comes from a West Virginia golden rainbow trout breeding with a classically colored rainbow trout. They usually have some kind of abnormal feature about them.

30.5” Walleye from a far northern Minnesota lake. Very dark colored fish but we kept it so there is a beautiful balance between light and dark but giving it the original fish feel. And yes the original fish had a chunk out of it’s tail like the reproduction.

Redband Trout are subspecies of the Rainbow Trout and exist in two geographic regions. This reproduction was from the northwest region of US.

Been prepping a lot. Time to start painting. Just an FYI, it takes 2 to 3 days just to paint a smaller Brown Trout. A lot of layers and detail, checking and rechecking, adding more to get it just right.
