Baragua staff includes Jonathan Fernandez, two-time national champion, four-time junior national champion, and Pan-American bronze medalist. All teachers are highly trained and certified by USA Judo, the national governing body of Judo in the US. The organization provides Judo classes
to children and adults. The head instructor of Baragua is Dr. Alberto Fernandez, 5th degree black belt. Dr. Fernandez has over 50 years of experience in Judo. He has been teaching and coaching at Baragua for the past 25 years. His recent coaching experiences include the following: 2022 US Open, 2019 US Open, 2015 US Junior Open, 2015 US Nationals, 2015 Florida Open, 2014 Jeju Korea Grand Prix, 2014 Tokyo Grand Prix, El Salvador Grand Prix, 2013 World Championship, 2013 Pan American Championship, 2013 Miami Grand Prix, 2013 El Salvador Continental Open, 2012 US World Cup, 2011 El Salvador World Cup, the 2011 US World Cup, 2011 Dusseldorf Grand Prix, and the 2010 Rome World Cup. Dr. Fernandez is the Vice-President of the Florida Yudanshakai Judo Federation and member of the Kodokan Judo Institute, USA Judo, and the United States Judo Federation. Baragua Judo Kai is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501 C-3 of the Internal Revenue Service. Donations to the organization are tax-exempt to fullest extent allowed by law. Congratulations to Braelen and Cesar for competing in the Southwest Florida Judo Championships. Braelen won three gold medals and one Silver in four different divisions, and Cesar took a Bronze in his division. We are all proud of them.
