Miami Shotokan Karate Club is a family oriented karate club for all ages, including children starting at age 5 and up, as well as adults and elders.

Some footage from our final class of the camp!

We were able to train with both Kobayashi Sensei and Hakizume Sensei, and they demonstrated the kata Nijushiho as well as showed us many important points in the kata, including some bunkai.

His incredible balance and strength is on full display here. This class focused on key points in the kata and some amazing partner work to help everyone with the bunkai.

Explaination and bunkai of the kata Jion by sensei Kaishi Hakizume during our women's class!

Focus on using the wrist to turn the arm so the elbow is properly exposed. Sensei explained that thinking of the kata moves as being meaningful and treating the kata as if you were doing kumite was extremely important.

Sensei Kaishi Hakizume demonstrating Jitte. Such incredible power on display!

This class focused on the act of pushing movement forward, driving with the hip, and using hip rotation to move your arms instead of vice versa.

During the afternoon class on Saturday we worked on hip mobility within the katas Tekki Shodan, Tekki Nidan, and Tekki Sandan, as well as the bunkai for them.

Thank you to everyone for keeping the annual tradition alive!

We have so many more videos & pictures to share, but for now we just want to say thank you to both Sensei Kunio Kobayashi and Sensei Kaishi Hakizume for teaching such a spectacular camp.

Yesterday's women's class at the dojo!

We worked on reaction training for kumite and finished the class off with Jion.

Amazing instruction as always! Thank you Hakizume Sensei!

Today's classes at 10am are all ranks at the gym and kids class 14 and under at the dojo.

Tonight 6pm all ranks at the gym and mens competitor kumite at the dojo.

Hakizume Sensei demonstrated Unsu for us in class today, as well as taught an entire class dedicated to the instruction of the kata.

What a fantastic class! Thank you Sensei for your instruction today.

We'll see everyone tonight at the gym at 6pm! Remember, women's class is at the dojo!
