La dosañera nativa 𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗔𝗗𝗢𝗥𝗔, montada por Juan Carlos Díaz, regresa luego de imponerse durante la quinta carrera de este domingo en el hipódromo Camarero y en la que hizo su debut.
Esta hija de Console en Consultora, por Race Day, criada por su propietario Marc Tacher en Potrero Los Llanos, pertenece al Sonata Stable y es entrenada por José Dan Vélez.
Cronometró 1:05.95 para 1,100 metros luego de fraccionales de :23.28 y :46.73.

CURLIN Y DON GUIDO, DATO CURIOSO

Ayer sábado, la potranca dosañera, La Cariñosa en buena demostración arribó en segundo lugar en el quinto; mientras que el día de hoy, Lady Khaleessi arribó en tercer lugar luego de una desastrosa salida, donde casi choca con la baranda exterior.
Curiosamente, ambas potranca tiene varios puntos en común en sus líneas de sangre, ya que ambas son hijas de hijos de Curlin en madres por el nativo Don Guido; aparte de qué en la quinta generación tienen al rápido Mr. Prospector.
Vale la pena echarle el ojo a este tipo de cruces, a ver si eventualmente indica que haya afinidad entre Curlin y Don Guido.

This is a rather grainy original 1931 photo of Valkyr.

She was owned and bred by Gifford Cochran and was purchased from his Estate by William Woodward along with Vicar, her 1931 c**t.

Valkyr was by Man o’ War out of the unraced Princess Palatine by Prince Palatine, the winner of the 1912 and 1913 Ascot Gold Cup.

She made 27 starts with 9 wins 6 seconds 8 thirds earning: $13,005.

At two in 1927, Valkyr made five starts. She was second and third in two Maiden races at Jamaica.

Valkyr was second in the Rosedale Stakes to Princess Tina and ahead of Swizzlestick.

She finished third: in the Jersey Lily Purse behind Giggleorum and One Hour, the winner of the 1927 Astoria Stakes; and in the Rose Cliffe Purse behind Miss Simplicity and Helenita.

At three in 1928, she made eleven starts. Valkyr won a maiden race at Jamaica and two Allowances at Aqueduct.

Valkyr won: the Richmond Handicap over Vito, the winner of the 1928 Belmont Stakes, and Knapsack, the winner of the 1918 Aero Handicap; and the Piping Rock Purse over Alan’s Bay and Flag of Fashion.

She was second: in the Alabama Stakes to Nixie and ahead of Darkness, the winner of the 1929 Westbury Steeplechase Handicap; in the Fearnaught Handicap to Wee Burn and ahead of Shakitup.

Valkyr finished third: in the Coaching Club American Oaks behind Bateau and Darkness; and in the October Handicap behind Sun Edwin and Juggler, the winner of the 1928 Mount Vernon Handicap.

She finished: fifth in the Damsel Purse; and was placed seventh and last in the Broadway Handicap as she “wheeled at the start” according the racing chart.

At four in 1929 Valkyr made eleven starts in the United States and Mexico.

She won: the Redlands Purse over Shasta Negra and Grier of Spain; the Mariposa Handicap over Penalo, the winner of the 1927 Helpful Stakes, and Grier of Spain; the San Francisco Handicap over Doctor Wilson, the winner of the 1928 Tijuana Derby, and Eddie Ahern; and the Bronxville Handicap over Distraction and Sun Forward, the winner of the 1928 Whitestone Handicap.

Valkyr was second: in the Yonkers Handicap to Distraction and ahead of Healy, the winner of the 1929 Empire City: Derby; and in the Mount Kisco Stakes to Healy and ahead of Sepoy, the winner of the 1927 Whitestone Handicap.

Valkyr finished third: in the Pennsylvania Railroad Handicap behind Golden Prince and Wirt G. Bowman; in the Morrisana Handicap behind Princess Tina and Ironsides, the winner of the 1928 Edgemere Handicap; and in the Irish Lad Purse behind Curate and Stars and Bars, the winner of the 1930 Clark Handicap.

She finished: eighth in the Carriso Handicap; and twelfth in the Coffroth Handicap.

But it was as a Broodmare that she is best known.

Valkyr was considered a Reine-de-Course.

Her most important progeny were:

Vagrancy: the 1942 Champion Three Year Old Filly, 1943 Champion Older Mare. The dam of: Black Tarquin the 1948 English Champion Three Year Old C**t; and Vulcania, the winner of the 1951 Test Stakes.

Vagrancy was the second dam of: Natashka, the winner of the 1966 Alabama Stakes and the 1981 Broodmare of the Year. This is the family of: Arkadina, the winner of the 1972 Athesi Stakes; Ivory Wand, the winner of the 1976 Test Stakes; Anees, the winner of the 1999 BC Juvenile; Elusive Quality, the winner of the 1998 Jaipur Stakes; Gregorian, the winner of the 1980 Joe McGrath Memorial Stakes; among many others.

Vagrancy was the third dam of: Fiddle Isle, the winner of the 1970 Hollywood Park Invitational Turf Handicap; and of Banja Luka, the 1987 Broodmare of the Year, who produced Ferdinand, the 1987 Horse of the Year and the 1987 Champion Handicap Horse.

Hypnotic: the winner of the 1946 Alabama Stakes and the 1946 Coaching Club American Oaks.

Bellicose: was second in the 1945 Gazelle Handicap. She is the second dam of Sarcastic, the winner of the 1961 Margate Handicap; and the dam of Vitriolic, the 1967 Champion Two Year Old C**t.

Vicar: the winner of the 1934 Huron Handicap.

Valse: finished third in the 1936 Alabama Stakes; and the dam of Vienna, the winner of the 1944 Alabama Stakes, who produced: Two Cities, the dam of Baldric, the winner of the 1964 Two Thousand Guineas. Two Cities was also the dam of Village Square, the winner of the 1967 Prix de Meautry.

War Vixen: the dam of Warrigan, the winner of the 1940 Cup and Saucer Handicap.

Valkara: the dam of Post Graduate, the winner of the 1944 Starlet Stakes.

Vicaress: the winner of the 1934 Spinaway Stakes.
She is the second dam of Face the Facts, the winner of the 1964 Comely Stakes.

Face the Facts produced:

Bicker: the winner of the 1972 Del Mar Derby.

Judger: the winner of the 1974 Florida Derby over Cannonade and Little Current. He defeated or placed ahead of Champion Little Current on five separate occasions.

Proof: the winner of the 1986 Stymie Handicap.

Actual: the dam of: My Miss Brooks, the winner of the Gulf Coast Handicap; and Doodle, the winner of the 1983 Eatontown Handicap, who produced: Red Lightning, the winner of the 2002 Kentucky Cup Turf Dash Stakes; Pencil, finished third in the 1990 Darcie Stakes; and Daddy’s Dream, finished third in the 1998 Tropical Park Derby.

Consequences: the second dam of: Distinguish, the winner of the 2008 Brother Brown Stakes; and Pinpoint, the winner of the 2005 Sir Barton Stakes.
