Do you know why golf has 18 holes? ⛳

It wasn’t science. It wasn’t mathematics. And golf didn’t always have 18.

In 1764, golfers at St Andrews combined four pairs of shorter holes, reducing the course from 22 holes to 18 — 9 out and 9 back.

Over time, 18 became the standard we all recognize today.

More than 260 years later, one decision still defines a round of golf.

Sometimes the biggest traditions start with a very practical decision.

Want a smoother putting stroke? ⛳️

Try this simple drill to let gravity—not tension—control the putter. It’s a great way to develop a freer, more natural stroke and improve your feel on the greens.

Use it during your warm-up before a round or add it to your next putting practice session. 🎯

What a shot

Money talks in golf, and the numbers keep climbing. The FedEx Cup Playoffs kick off this week, building toward East Lake’s $40M Tour Championship purse — the richest single payday in the sport at $10M to the winner. Compare that to the marquee majors: the U.S. Open and Masters pay $4.5M, while the PGA Championship’s $3.69M reflects its smaller 18% share of a $20.5M pool.

Notice the “player-hosted” events (Genesis, Arnold Palmer, Memorial) actually out-pay most Signature events — $4M vs. $3.6M — despite identical $20M purses. It’s a reminder that purse size alone doesn’t tell the whole story; payout percentage matters just as much.

How much has changed in pro golf’s economics in just a few years. 💰⛳

That was pretty amazing

Scottie Scheffler is no longer just dominating the present. He is beginning to challenge golf history.

With 203 total weeks as World No. 1, Scheffler has already moved into third place on the all-time OWGR list.

Next target: Greg Norman at 331 weeks.

And then there is Tiger Woods.

Tiger’s record of 683 weeks at World No. 1 remains one of the most extraordinary achievements in sports. Scheffler would need years of continued dominance to even come close.

Can Scheffler eventually dethrone Norman?

Could he make a serious run at Tiger?

Or is 683 weeks a record that will never be broken?

Let us know what you think. 👇

Twenty years. Twenty champions of the Open Championship — and only one repeat winner in that entire stretch. ⛳

From Tiger Woods’ dominant win at Hoylake in 2006, through Pádraig Harrington’s back-to-back triumphs, to Ryan Fox lifting the Claret Jug at Royal Birkdale this year — the list reads like a snapshot of how much the game has changed. Where past eras belonged to a handful of legends who returned to the winner’s circle year after year, the modern Open has become one of golf’s great equalizers. Underdogs, first-time major winners, and international stars have all had their moment on the Old Course, at Birkdale, at Troon, and beyond.

That’s the magic of this championship — it doesn’t just crown the best player of a generation, it opens the door for a new one every July. Who do you think lifts the jug next? 🏆

・・・

⛳ Most golfers use the SAME swing feeling for drivers and irons… and that’s exactly why they struggle with contact, launch, and consistency.

💥 Driver vs Iron = different shoulder action.
Understanding this changes everything.

🏌️‍♂️ DRIVER
The driver is designed to be hit UP on the ball.
✅ Feel your right shoulder stay slightly back/right during the downswing
✅ Create an ascending strike
✅ Improve launch, distance, and stability

🏌️ IRONS
Irons are designed to compress DOWN through the ball.
✅ Feel your right shoulder moving toward the ball at impact
✅ Rotate the chest and torso through contact
✅ Create cleaner strikes and better control

The swings may LOOK similar… but the shoulder direction and feeling are completely different.

🎯 Once you understand this distinction:
• Contact improves
• Ball flight becomes more consistent
• Distance + accuracy get better together

📌 Save this for your next range session

The fastest way to ruin a scorecard? Chasing the “perfect” shot.

Smart players don’t force it — they play the shot they trust.
That’s how you avoid the BIG numbers.

What’s your go-to “safe shot” under pressure? ⬇️
Mine: Gap wedge from 100–105.
