“People who do not grasp the true nature of a martial artist may well go to some trouble to knock on my door and request training, but unless they search for the heart of a martial artist, my teachings will fall on deaf ears…

Now, as a Doctor of Human Sciences, I would like to analyze the symptoms and morphology of various diseases which people searching for combat techniques are prone to contract without being aware of it.

Number One type:
A hypoplastic (underdeveloped) form; self-centred, fussy about grades, and always wanting to be "Number One". This is an awful type.... a real nuisance.”

Re-entry day grind week
Day 7 last day
Part 3 last post
The music in this video was what was in my headphones while training lol excuse the randomness.🤪
This was the last day of my re-entry day(birthday) week & as always during that week, I train for seven days straight, grinding as hard as I can each day at the end of the day.
Two days out of this week are missing from the series of videos/posts, as not everything needs to be recorded & shared.
At the point of recording this video I was exhausted 😩 😵🤪

The music in this video was what was in my headphones while training lol excuse the randomness.🤪 This was the last day of my re-entry day(birthday) week & as always during that week, I train for seven days straight, grinding as hard as I can each day at the end of the day.
Two days out of this week are missing from the series of videos/posts, as not everything needs to be recorded & shared. At the point of recording this video I was exhausted so I thought it was a good idea to break out the suburito ((素振り刀) a heavy, oversized wooden training sword) & start the training with that.🤪 I’ve had this suburito for over 20 years. I got it when I was 17 after breaking my first bokken on a tree practicing my cuts.
From Larry Decarmine teaching me how to use a katana & practice my conditioning with this suburito, to Paul Fisher helping me transition with it into ninjutsu, to Dick severance teaching me how to practice my sword conditioning with it in the water (while bemusedly Professing that using it in the water would mess it up lol), to now, Jasenc Sensei currently training me in specific movements his Master Ishizuka Soke(RIP) passed on to him🙏🏼. And through all of the years, this suburito has been with me. Even after a million plus swings/cuts, even during and after moments of despair and elation, this thing made to be heavy in one’s hands, never once actually felt heavy. The only thing that ever was heavy was the light and dark energy motivating me to pick it up and refine myself.
This has been a very rough year, but as always I am simply grateful for the experience, the lessons, and the opportunity to expand and continue growing.
So while I’m “Krawling in my skin and these wounds they never heal, and while you sit back and wonder why I got this thorn in my side all I can do is just go far left and just say “thank you” Thank you to the spirits for the time, for the mind For the breath, for the flesh Thank you for the quest, thank you for the vision This vision that spawns anxiety, trying to see and feel why I’m living”

Day 3 of Re-entry day week of training. 🎂
Instead of a normal class I explained to my student today we just grind. We tsuki until we can’t tsuki then we add jodan uke to it and when that gets exhausting we add a shuto and when that gets exhausting we add gedan uke and when that burns you out we add a keri. The weapons work was a small part at the end to help distract from the legs being burnt out and push through that last 20 minutes of class.👺
These are short clips and you can see the difference in deeper kamae in my movement vs his not so deep kamae. In the beginning before your legs are developed, before you learn to have that switch where you can force yourself to do proper form despite exhaustion you must develop it. All these taijutsu clips are the end of each movements grind. Luis did a great job pushing through. 🥷
