Empowerment, what does it mean?
What patterns are running you?
We Prepare Systems. Why Don’t We Prepare Humans?
Think about it.
Before a race begins, we hear three simple words:
Ready. Set. Go.
No one expects a runner to simply appear at the starting line and perform. We know they spent months, sometimes years, preparing their body, mind, and habits before the race ever began.
Pilots don’t fly until they’ve trained.
Athletes don’t compete without practice.
Musicians don’t perform without rehearsing.
Even machines are tested before they’re expected to work.
Every system values readiness.
So why don’t we do the same for human beings?
In learning, living, and leading, we assume people are ready.
We expect children to learn before they’re emotionally, mentally, or physically prepared.
We expect adults to lead through stress without first building resilience.
We expect employees to perform without understanding how they learn best.
We expect parents to know how to raise children without ever teaching them how.
Then, when performance falls short, we blame the person instead of questioning their readiness.
Performance is not the starting point.
Readiness is.
Maybe the greatest flaw in our education systems, workplaces, and even our families is this:
We measure performance.
We rarely measure readiness.
Imagine what would happen if we stopped asking, “Why aren’t they performing?” and started asking, “Are they truly ready?”
Because when readiness comes first, performance becomes a natural outcome—not a constant struggle.
Perhaps it’s time we treated human development the same way we treat every other system:
Ready. Set. Go.
Not…
Go. Figure it out. Watch my interview to learn why Readiness comes before performance.
Here are two things that are keeping you from getting things done.
Learning to trust again is often the hardest part of losing something at a vulnerable age. Healing isn’t just about moving forward… it’s about rebuilding the ability to feel safe, believe, and trust again.
