Shoot Commentary – ATA September 20, 2026:
This shoot was scheduled to be our FALL SHOOT. However, due to the forecasted rain, the turnout was low. We considered cancelling the shoot, and reschedule it. The shooters were fine with that, but they still wanted to shoot some ATA targets. So I made this a targets only shoot.

Past few shoots we dodged the weather bullet. Not this time. We did get the Singles completed before the rain. Handicap was shot in a light drizzle. But Doubles was shot in something more than a drizzle.

16 Yard Event (12 entries):
It was a little cloudy, perfect to see the targets at this time of the year. We had 5 scores of 90 or better. Tom Antczak commented that he dropped his 14th target for a 99. A few minutes later, someone popped in to the clubhouse and said that a 100 straight just came in, Christine Thompson. She said this is her 2nd ever 100 straight. When she came in, she was more concerned about getting one of our custom 100 straight pins than the $100 Bounty.

Handicap Event (11 entries):
With so few handicap shooters, there weren’t many high scores, but 3 shooters were in the 90’s. Tom Antczak was high with a 95. But no punch because we didn’t have enough shooters. Oddly, this was the same score he shot at our last shoot where he did get a 1/2 yard punch.

Doubles Event (7 entries):
The shooters in the doubles were definitely die hard doubles shooters to shoot in the rain. The only score of 90 or better was Lester Busch, Jr with his 95, impressive.

Lester Busch, Jr was high in the HOA with 284, followed by Tom Antczak with a 283. Tom was ahead of Lester in the Singles & Handicap, by 5, but Lester pulled ahead in the Doubles by 6.

All the reports & scores have been uploaded to the ATA, and fees paid, including the ITA as of today, Sept. 21st. Shooters scores may get posted to their records before the Tippecanoe shoot this coming weekend at Fulton.

Our next shoot will be Sunday October 4th. We threw 3,000 targets, and hosted 12 shooters. The only payout was the 100 Straight Bounty to Christine Thompson.

ATA today Sept. 20, 2026 - Doubtful:
Although we are set up to hold this shoot, the weather will be iffy throughout the day. If we have less than 10 shooters today, we plan to cancel this shoot., and reschedule for another day.

However, we will be open for practice at $6 a round.

Update: we have decided to cancel our FALL shoot and hold an ATA shoot, TARGETS ONLY.

Trapshooting Sat (9/19) & Sun ATA (9/20):
Although the weekend looks iffy, we are on schedule to shoot. Saturday there will be Munster Donuts. For lunch, if we have enough shooters, pizza. Wobble will be available.

Sunday's ATA will go as scheduled. Munster Donuts in the morning, Strack's chicken for lunch.

Many thanks to John Hruskocy. I stopped at the club Thursday afternoon. I thought for sure that Earl Scheib had been there. The traps got fresh coat of green paint.

In other matters, we are looking for a few people to score and load the traphouses. If you're retired and looking to keep busy, stop in and see me (and get paid). If you have a 15-18 year old that wants to be part of our family, scoring & loading, stop in to see me.

Commentary on Sept. 6, 2026 ATA Shoot:
Another fine day to shoot, with some very good scores.

16 Yard Event (23 entries):
With the weather cooperating I thought for sure there would be a 100 straight. But not. High score was a 98 by Chris Geron & Alex Overmyer. There were 97s by Rich Haltek and John Hruskocy, followed by a lone 96 by Adam Hoekstra, 94s by Diane Hoekstra & Tom Antczak, 3 scores of 92 by Jenkins, Matthews and Busch.

Handicap Event (20 entries):
The high score in handicap was a 95, by Tom Antczak. That earned him a half yard punch for his effort. And his score for middle 50 of 48 earned him the middle 50 pot of $65. There were two 92s by Tom Jenkins & Chris Geron, and two 91s by Alex Overmyer & John Hruskocy.

Doubles Event (16 entries):
Only two shooters broke in the 90’s: Tom Antczak with 91 & Chris Stueck with a 90.

Tom Antczak was high in the HOA with 280.

All the reports & scores have been uploaded to the ATA, and fees paid, including the ITA on Monday Sept. 7th. Shooters scores may take a while to record as the ATA is closing out the 2026 year, making sure clubs have turned in all their shoots.

Our next shoot will be Sunday September 20th. By the way, if anyone would like a printout of their average card, please let me know next time you are at the club. We do have payout envelopes for a few shooters, so see me at the counter next time you are at the club.

We threw 5,900 targets, and hosted 24 shooters. The Options and Added Money for this shoot totaled $563 in payouts.

My hats off to some of our “trap committee” (Larry Lipa, Pete Brissette, Jay Frederick & John Hruskocy). Just when the last squad of Singles was finishing up on the East, the East trap died. We shot 5 squads of handicap on Center & West traps while they worked on it. After getting their hands dirty for a few hours on the East trap, they found the issue, a loose wire. We started Doubles at our usual time of 3 pm, without issues. All I know is that they weren’t going to give up till they found the problem. Some of our good guys.

Trapshooting notes for Sat (9/5) & Sun (9/6):
Sorry for this late of a post, but I didn't think the guys could pull it off. First off, the guys were able to get the PAT traps working. Which was a feat in itself since they were under water. The team, headed by Larry L, Bob P & Pete B were relentless on the traps. A call to Charlie at PAT lead them in the right direction. Last Saturday everything ran just fine. But this past Wednesday night, the center trap gave me fits. Today Larry & Bob tackled the wireless issues. A call to Gary Parker at Target Sh****ns gave them guidance. I got the got an hour ago that everything is good to go for the weekend. A big thanks to Jay F. He came out to cut grass for the weekend. Last week Tom J. jumped in to get things going. I felt despondent, but my spirits have been uplifted. With all that I have to deal with at home, the club issues seemed so distant.

Saturday there may be a chance or rain. But we will open as usual. Munster Donuts in the morning, hot dogs for lunch. The plan is to go to Wobble by 11 am.

Sunday ATA seems to be the better day. Temps in the mid to upper 70's, with some clouds. Munster Donuts in the morning, lunch will be Stracks Fried chicken (although the chicken is not confirmed, yet).

Also, be aware that White Flyer gave us a 7% increase in target cost. So, effective September, practice will go $.50 a round, and ATA will increase $2 per 100.

I know there might have been others who helped resurrect us, but just know that I really appreciate your efforts.

Trapshooting Saturday August 29, 2026:
We will be open for trapshooting this Saturday. This will be a shakedown shoot, to make sure traps are functioning correctly. Many thanks to Bob, Larry & Pete for not giving up. East & West traps were up & running first, after following the manual "in case of flooded traps". The Center trap required more work because it's solid state. That required some parts overnighted. And several calls to Charlie at PAT Trap.

EDIT: I forgot about guys who did grounds cleaning & grass cutting. Thanks to Jay who brought out his equipment. And I believe he also took care of that tree that fell north of the west field in the parking area. Tom J worked with Jay while the guys worked on the traps. Who else did I forget???

Temps will be lower 80s, cloudy, and a south wind. We'll have Munster Donuts in the morning. Not sure what's for lunch. Assuming our shakedown shooting goes off without a hitch, I'll put out the presquad sheet for our ATA shoot September 6th.

Wi******er, who owns White Flyer, has announced in June a 7% increase in our targets. And because we have to cover our costs, beginning in September, shoot fees will go up $.50 a round, on 25 targets. Our ATA target fees will go up from $28 per 100 to $30 per hundred.

I've already gotten calls if donations for the trap range will be accepted. YES. I'll set up a coffee can for loose change, or Checks. We've had some unusual expenses lately due to the storm.

Also, if any of you would like to donate your time to chores around the trap range & other parts of the club, see me. This will mostly be cutting grass, general cleanup and some fallen trees to chain saw. Right now we need to box some targets drying out in the main building, upstairs. I'll leave the main building door open this Saturday. There are loose targets & boxes for the targets. We'll do this every Saturday. If any member wants to do this chore during the week, you can do so. Just let me know so I'm aware of our progress.
