đ¨ATTENTION Memphis area and Jiu-Jitsu community! đ¨
Memphis Judo and Jiu Jitsu has decided to hold an in-house Jiu-Jitsu tournament! Not only will this be the first in-house tournament Memphis Judo and Jiu Jitsu has hosted in years, but it will also be a very special one. The goal of this tournament is to help raise money for pancreatic cancer research.
A little over a year ago, the world lost a beautiful and beloved soul whom we all knew as David Ferguson. Anyone who knew Dave knew that he was a fighter in more ways than just MMA. He never gave up when life got hard and always gave 100% in everything he did.
When Dave first was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, him and his family found different pancreatic cancer foundations that helped support them and guide them through this incredibly challenging time. Since then, Kandace, Daveâs wife, has worked to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer, support research efforts, and help others who are facing this incredibly difficult battle. All proceeds from this in-house tournament will be donated to organizations and initiatives dedicated to pancreatic cancer research, help find transportation for patients to doctorâs appointments, meal plans, and much more.
One way we can all show up for Dave and his family is by joining us for this in-house Jiu-Jitsu tournament. Whether you compete or not, have only trained for a short time, or donât train Jiu-Jitsu at all, everyone is welcome to come and show their support.
This is for a beautiful cause, and it is for Dave and his family. Letâs come together for one day and do something bigger than ourselves. Letâs show Dave that we will never give up, just as he never gave up on the people he cared about.
